During last weekend's Women's Volleyball World Championships, I didn't sleep for three or four nights from nerves and later the excitement wore going down until Tuesday, so I'm used to it. Now I can relax a bit, although it's difficult.

So how long will the American be out front like this?

Edit: Apparently she likes taking the lead.  This is on her Wikipedia page, about her race at 2023 Budapest: "Sullivan took the lead in the first section of the race in the hot weather. The field of elites at one point was nearly two minutes behind her as the announcers told her story and she reached unimpeded for her water bottles. She faded in the later miles to finish 58th in 2:44:24 while Amane Beriso took the win in 2:24:23."

Just started to look tired now

My good old school friend used to say: "The night is too beautiful for sleep." :)

For LA28, it will be nice because events will start around lunchtime for me (East Coast...3 hours difference), but won't finish until 1 or 2am...but I am a teacher and have summers off, so I could stay up late each night... ;)

Not lying, when I was younger it was much more easier. Vancouver 2010 I did not sleep 16 consecutive nights and still felt well, not sure I will be able to repeat the same achievement for LA though

And what part of the USA are you from? Because there's as much difference between New York and Hawaii as there is between New York and Rome :)

    • sure! in every Italian bedroom you normally have every kind of table, chairs, furniture, tv screen  to me, this really look an unfinished room, you normally don't see such a sad place even when you buy a new house
    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
