17 yo Charalampos Alivizatos in the men's high jump with 2.25 at :GRE National Championships :yes

His previous PB was 2.19, he equaled that today, then cleared 2.21 on his first attempt,  2.23 on his third, and 2.25 on his first!

He is trying now for 2.27 and missed his first attempt. He is currently in second place as Merlos also cleared 2.25 but with less attempts.

He is improving rapidly. His PB after 2023 was 1.90, then 2.07 after 2024 and 2.15 after 2025 :)

He missed all 3 attempts at 2.27 to finish in second place. Merlos cleared 2.27 on his first attempt to equal his PB from a few weeks ago and will go for 2.29 now.

Another 2008-born athlete, Evelyn Mitropoulou, got 6.45 in the women's long jump :hyper:

The U20WL is 6.46, so she was very close. She also smashed her own indoor U20NR of 6.25 today

Day 3 in Ancona

  • women's 60m: 1.Zeynab Dosso, 7.10 (7.09 in the heats), 2.Kelly Ann Doualla (16 years young), 7.21
  • men's High Jump: 1.Christian Falocchi, 2.30m
  • men's 60m: 1.Filippo Randazzo, 6.61, 2.Samuele Ceccarelli, also 6.61, 3.Eduardo Longobardi, 6.62 (very nice race, despite the timings are not world class)
  • men's Triple Jump: 1.Andrea Dallavalle, 16.99m, 2.Andy Diaz, 16.90m, but he was well far from the board, with a good board, it would have been a 17.50+ jump (ps both only jumped twice)
  • women's 400m: 1.Eloisa Coiro (800m specialist), 52.02
  • men's Eptathlon: 1.Dario Dester, 6121 pts (new Italian Record)

Day 2 in Mariano Comense

the only non loughable result is the women's discus throw: 1. Daisy Osakue, 59.79m, 2.Benedetta Benedetti, 58.17m (PB)

men's Marathon

world bronze medallist Iliass Aouani ranked 6th at the Tokyo Marathon and improved the Italian men's National Record up to 2:04:26 (7th European runner in history)

Tentoglou won the men's long jump with 8.22. He only had two valid jumps today.

Another U20NR came in the women's shot put from Maria Rafailidou. She had 16.53 earlier this week and now got 16.59. She's second in the world for U20 this year :yes

So of course Karalis was the big star of our nationals this year, more than Tentoglou, but we also had a lot of teenagers show good signs for the future (Antonatou, Alivizatos, Mitropoulou, Iakovaki, Rafailidou etc).

Antonatou and Alivizatos are both from Kefalonia island. Antonatou's brother is a shot putter who is 19 yo and had a new PB yesterday of 17.92 in the NCAA. I don't remember us ever having any strong athletes from Kefalonia in any sport aside from the late Anna Pollatou who won an Olympic bronze in rhythmic gymnastics. What are they feeding these kids on this island (it only has about 35.000 residents)?! Very impressive.

No thread of cross country

    • Disappointed. I wanted tickets for BMX, 3x3, beach volleyball and athletics. Sadly there were no tickets for BMX and 3x3. Athletics and beach volley way too expensive for me.   I will focus on 2030 Winter Olympics again.
    • however, once again the Weightliftiong Europeans are a 2nd tier event, with many withdrawals and still the old weight classes, which will be changed for the Worlds in China in Autumn     will enter only 2 men (Massidda in the -65kg and Ficco in the -88kg) and 8 women (but not all the top lifters)

    • Unbelievable how two years in-a-row the wrestling and weightlifting Euros are in the same week..  I swear these people don't see the calendar and want to drive away the few fans, who still enjoy these sports.
    • @konig @LDOG you should start digging tunnels now ,like hamas did in Gaza           MILEI WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE NETANYAHU A PIECE OF ARGENTINA, AND EVERYTHING HE'S DONE POINTS IN THAT DIRECTION       🗺️ Netanyahu was photographed looking at a map of Argentine Patagonia during his meeting with Milei. No official explanation. The next day, Israel attacked Iran. At that same meeting they signed military, migration and pension agreements facilitating Israeli residency in Argentina. Nobody explained what Patagonia has to do with any of that. 🔥 Now connect the dots: Milei slashed over 80% of Patagonia's wildfire firefighting budget. Deregulated land use on burned territory. Israeli magnates like Joe Lewis already own 14,000 hectares at Lago Escondido. Israel's state-owned Mekorot already operates in the region's water resources. The migration agreements include social benefits and facilitated access for Israeli citizens. ✈️ Milei is visiting Israel for the third time. He'll be the first foreign leader ever to light Israel's Independence Day torch. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem. Declared Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. Israel's ambassador called him someone "on the right side of history." The Knesset called him "the best friend Israel has ever had in the Casa Rosada."
    • Yes, these polls are heavily skewed. 85-90 is probably a more accurate assessment, but again it will depend how many parties pass the 4% threshold.
    • Love Futsal, for me beach soccer and futsal should be at Olympics.
    • Are you sure Radev has no chance of winning an independent majority?
