You kind of wonder if some of it is misdirected. I mean, the americans get 3 entries in the world cup and she is not one of them so it was a near impossible task from the beginning. It seems like when she was doing well they could have reconsidered their top three for the January races, then she would have had a decent chance. Or her team could have entered more americans in earlier races too to boost the score of the first four NA cup races, but they didn't. So what were her conversations like with the american coaching team like?

Or the American team can arrange their internal ranking to be as if Canada entered all their athletes.

Exactly, why not? It will be interesting to see if Uhlaender races in Sunday's Asian Cup. Very little opportunity to improve her score but they are not giving her the opportunity to race in WC or EC tomorrow. She has 84 points as her 7th best, so there is still a very small opportunity for her to be the American no. 2. Ro only needs a 23rd place I think to stay ahead.

Just noticed she did not race at all in the first four NA cup races, but was registered for two, so more to her story for sure.

I'm sure she is riding as a freelance, not really part of the US team.  Guessing the World Cup team is official, maybe some juniors on the 2nd level circuit are also official, but she is probably just doing it herself, or with friends helping.

:SUI Sara Schmied misses the 2nd run at the WC in Altenberg, coming in 26th place, leaving her with 491 points.

That means:

:EST Zunte is already qualified as she got more points already.

:LAT Andzane needs to finish 29th or better in today's EC race to qualify

:RSA Burger needs to finish 23rd or better in today's EC race to qualify.

:PUR Delka qualified for the 2nd run in Altenberg in 24th place and thus has already more points, unless she crashes.

:DEN Johansen needs to finish 13th or better in today's EC race to qualify.

:SUI Simmchen also qualified for the 2nd run in Altenberg in 22nd place but needs to finish at least in 15th place to be impactful.

Actually it's over anyway. All of these girls have raced more than 7 times already and all are over 492 points (Johansen 493 the only one under 500).

Yeah with Schmied failing to improve her score it really takes the drama out of it. The Uhlaender story gets possibly uglier now though with Ro finishing 20th. I believe it leaves Ro 18 points ahead of Uhlaender so the 30 points difference in Lake Placid really stings.

So here's a summary of the quotas. Puerto Rico becomes the latest nation to officially qualify.

Nation Men Women Team Total
:AUS Australia 1     1
:AUT Austria 2 1 x 3
:BEL Belgium   1   1
:BRA Brazil   1   1
:CAN Canada 2 2 x2 4
:CHN China 3 2 x2 5
:CZE Czechia   1   1
:DEN Denmark 1 1 x 2
:EST Estonia   1   1
:FRA France 1     1
:GER Germany 3 3 x2 6
:GBR Great Britain 2 3 x2 5
:ISR Israel 1     1
:ITA Italy 2 2 x2 4
:LAT Latvia 1 1 x 2
:NED Netherlands   1   1
:PUR Puerto Rico   1   1
:RSA South Africa   1   1
:KOR South Korea 2 1 x 3
:SUI Switzerland 1     1
:UKR Ukraine 1     1
:USA United States 2 2 x2 4

_

Nice to see :RSA with a "real" (needing more than a minimum standard) qualifications in two different sports (moguls and skeleton).

Had you told me before the season that :CAN would get four quotas I would have been overjoyed, was worried the men might get zero 😅
