Biathlon Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026 Road to Milano Cortina 2026

I am confused about how the qualifying works for the non-qualified nations (so the top-12 individual athletes). Wikipedia keeps a ranking of them since IBU themselves doesn't, and usually on Wiki these things are quite correct. However, things have been moving around so weirdly in the past few weeks. Like :BRA Gaia Brunello and :AUS Darcie Morton have been moving in and out of the top-12 with Gaia's points remaining the same, but Darcie's points going from 90 something to 120 something and back....and now she is in again and Gaia is out again. So apparently one can actually also lose points?

Any informations about women's rejecting quotas (except Germany)?

Maybe Switzerland, only Amy Baserga and Lea Meier fullfilled the criteria, but maybe we will send a relay if Lena Häcki gets a top 25 Place today. But we have 5 Quotas, so maybe we will reject 1-2

Earlier IBU didn't calculate correct points, but now they do on a separate tab on biathlonresults.

Wikipedia editors used only IBU Qualifying points tab, which used only last 3 trimesters, but by rules best 3 results from all the qualification period (from the beginning of 24-25 season) should be used for calculations, so 90+ points for Darcie is the correct result.

Yes I think you are right and junior Ibu points do not count

in women’s Romania is first below line and probably in. Next in ranking is a refugee and then Brazil.

3 quotas for Croatia which is great !!!!

Since the totals are rolling, meaning they take into account three trimesters, when the calendar year changed some scores could have gone up with older better scores dropping out of the applicable time period. But there is also something odd going on with the points. The wikipedia list does not agree with the most current 'ibu qualifying points' list, however, there is something new in that tab called 'OWG wildcards' that it does agree with. Morton, and a few others, have discrepancies that change who is in and who is out.
