Team GB Daily: Day 1

the 100m breast times are really slow suprisingly...not sure what it means for the final but both Adam and Qin going very high 58s, entire field covered by 0.5 secs.

I guess Adam leads after 75 and tries to hang on with the field chasing him down

still my positives; Richards in particular looks in good form. Tom Dean seemed to make progress in leg 3. Dressel to me doesn't look like as serious a threat to Proud in the 50m as I thought.

To be fair the res tof them don’t look as strong for the 4 x 200m as well.

The 3 200 boys all swam well, and are all stronger on the back end of the 2 so don't agree with the above

It just feels like swimming deserves an excellent meet in primetime after two games or finals in the middle of the night but that might not happen.

Apparently the takeovers were fine (0.20 0.19 0.21) but he came up a full bodylength almost from where he should have been, was there a slip or something?

    • 1st and 2nd place in women's epee + 2nd and 3rd place in men's epee. Importantly, for men they are very young guys. Unfortunately, Federico Vismara ended his career at the age of 27, just like Marco Fichera did a few years ago at a similar age. This is a bit of a problem, because these were fencers at the ideal age for this competition: 27-28. It's a shame to lose such people, but it's important that there are young people behind them.
