Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games 2018 News

Recommended Posts

Apparently our Ice hockey federation in partnership with our NOC succeeded with their try to provide viewable broadcast times for our fans. It looks that our team will play the preliminary round games with Russia, USA and Slovenia at 13:15 of our time during week and at 08:40 the weekend.

also we will have new designed jerseys for the olympics, but the federation will unveil them only later during the olympic uniforms presentation.

The only positive thing in that is that maybe the Worlds in Denmark will have stronger teams than usually in Olympic years...

Well, time to get ice hockey out of the Olympics for a cycle until they can get things back in order..

Bite your tongue :spank:...

nah who cares about Bettman and his arrogance...

Untill Nagano 1998 all Olympics has been played without NHLers and many tournaments are always considered as fantastic and memorable...just look the Lillehammer Games 1994. This was by far the best ever hockey tournament. and any NHL player was playing there...

Still... If top players don't play at the Olympics then it's not really Olympic... :dunno:

Keep in mind that Olympics still had some of those amateur rules in 80s and 90s.

Nobody cares about Bettman and his arrogance, but Olympic sports should have the best players. The Olympic junior football tournament may be fun, it's not a real Olympic tournament because it's junior football. If they go back to only amateurs being allowed in the cycling, it might be a lot more fun than the professional races, but it's not a real Olympic race because the best aren't there.

Same thing here, might be a fun tournament, it doesn't deserve the name 'Olympic' and whoever wins this joke of a tournament should of course be happy, but also should 'just' be happy that they won a fun little tournament, nothing more and nothing less than that.

well, at first, you can not compare the olympic football and ice hockey, because even without NHLers its far from to be a junior tournament or so...even with only european clubs players It still has all disposition to be a great competition

Many teams will still easily send extremely competitive teams, for example Russia who will for sure win gold because if they entera  team composed of CSKA Moscow and SKA St. Petersburg players would be too much even for any only NHL based players, and it could be said also for all other nations represented in the tournament. ofc I agree that the NHL players are the best and with them the value of the competition would be much more bigger, I agree that watching them playing in a best of best tournament is something each hockey fan (and trust me that me too) eagerly wait every 4 years..but this time we have to do differently. and enjoy the best sport even without the best players. Ice Hockey deserve to be a olympic sport even without their best athletes.

Also keep in mind that the NHL players WANT to play, 90% of them declared their desires to represent their home country under the five rings, their National federations and fans WANT them too. it´s all only and only about 1 person who repeatedly present his inifinite arrogance, and this time he raised his arrogance to an even higher level. unfortunately for all it´s the commisionaire (Chief) of the NHL

I know, and I have nothing against the NHL players of course, I have no doubt most of them want nothing more than play for gold at the Olympics (apart from winning the Stanly Cup :p )

How will the KHL do all this? Will they pause their league during the Olympics? I'm curious, because a while ago I read that if the NHL doesn't pause, KHL wouldn't do that neither..

    • FIS has released the FIS Cross Country World Cup 2026/27 calendar: https://assets.fis-ski.com/f/252177/x/46d75109f7/wc-cal_nordic26-27.pdf    27.-29.11. Ruka (FIN) 04.-06.12. Trondheim (NOR) 11.-13.12. Davos (SUI) 31.12.-03.01. Les Rousses (FRA) 05.-06.01. Oberstdorf (GER) 08.-10.01. Val Di Fiemme (ITA) 22.-24.01. Engadin (SUI) 29.-31.01. Toblach (ITA) 12.-14.02. Lahti (FIN) 22.02-07.03-2027 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Falun (SWE) 12.-14.03 Oslo (NOR) 16.03. Drammen (NOR) 19.-21.03 Ulricehamn (SWE)   oddities in the calendar:   1:There is no stage for the dates 18.-20.12. It turns out that at the beginning of the season there is a 2-week break from 14.-27.12 without any starts; there is no reason for such a long break. 2:Oberstdorf at the Tour de Ski. FIS kicked Oberstdorf out of the Tour de Ski because the weather there was always something wrong and stages were constantly being cancelled, promising that it would no longer do business with Oberstdorf and that there would be no more weather problems at the Tour de Ski. What is Oberstdorf doing at the Tour de Ski again? 3: There is no stage scheduled for February 5-7. This means there's a week-long break without competitions mid-season from February 1-7; there is no reason for such a break. 4: The stage in Lahti (FIN) in mid-February. It can be -25 degrees Celsius in Finland in mid-February. Why risk canceling the stage? 5: The stage in Oslo (NOR) is scheduled immediately after the 22.02-07.03.2027 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Falun (SWE), which means there will be no 50 km marathon in Oslo (NOR). FIS will not schedule a 50 km marathon for the stage before the 22.02-07.03.2027 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Falun (SWE), since no one will come. This means the 50 km marathon will be at the season finale at the end of March in Ulricehamn (SWE). But Ulricehamn (SWE) is Sweden. Also, Ulricehamn (SWE) is southern Sweden. At the end of March, there is snow in Canada, iceland,Australia, and New Zealand. There is also snow in Tibet China, and Japan. But Japan and China have a very negative attitude towards foreigners and will not cooperate with FIS. If the final stage with a 50 km marathon were in Canada, iceland,Australia, or New Zealand, there would be no questions, but southern Sweden? What is FIS thinking?

    • For me most important are the sports i follow all the season: biathlon, cross country skiing, ski jumping and curling (here i follow only European and World Championships). These are my 'golden coloured' sports on my excel schedule. The second group is: ski alpine, bobsleigh, short track, skeleton, nordic combined and some of the freestyle skiing (ski cross and slope style).  The third group: luge, speed skating, snowboard.   I will also look up for ski mountaineering - i never followed this, so I am happy to give it a try.         Sorry i have to say it: if it is a multiple choice poll the results should be number of votes for the particular option divided by number of voter, not the whole sum of the vote. It is probablythe forum engine, but every time i see a bad diagram, i rage out. The results should look like this:
    • Mens   3     Johannes Lamparter, Stefan Rettenegger, Thomas Rettenegger   Ilkka Herola, Eero Hirvonen, Wille Karhumaa   Marco Heinis, Laurent Muehlethaler, Mael Tyrode   Vinzenz Geiger, Johannes Rydzek, Julian Schmid   Samuel Costa, Alessandro Pittin, Aaron Kostner   Sora Yachi, Ryota Yamamoto, Akito Watabe   Einar Luraas Oftebro, Jens Luraas Oftebro, Andreas Skoglund   2     Zhao Jiawen, Zhao Zihe   Jiří Konvalinka, Jan Vytrval   Kristjan Ilves, Ruubert Teder   Kacper Jarzabek, Milosz Krzempek   Vid Vrhovnik, Gašper Brecl   Dmytro Mazurchuk, Oleksandr Shumbarets   Ben Loomis, Niklas Malacinski   1     Chingiz Rakparov
