Boxing IOC Olympic Qualifier 2 2024

Been a very good tournament for :IND boxers, only undone by judges. Two big robberies in Women's 66kg and 60kg. I know it's easy to say that we are complaining just because our boxer lost but it wasn't even a close match. Boro in 66kg lost 3-2 despite winning 2 rounds but not the right combination. Her 2nd round against Alexiusson was fantastic should have been 10-8 but one Canadian judge even gave it to the Swede and just 10-9 elsewhere. It was like 20 effective punches to 5.

In 66kg Arundhati absolutely outclassed the Slovak in Rd 1 and 2. Even the commentators were shocked on how the first round was given to the Slovak. It looked overwhelmingly clear.

All 6 :CHN boxers took a nice match in Bangkok, and 2 boxers(M51 LIU Chuang&W57 XU Zichun)entered the final match.Unfortunately M92+ boxer BAYIKEWUZI‘s eyebrow bleeding again……maybe he need a little luck.

Not to be facetious, but there was internal assessment and they chose Walsh. Shes pissed there wasn’t a second assessment but Broadhurst a) had a chance and lost to Eccles and b) was beaten by Walsh for the Irish spot. Walsh was similarly pissed last year when she beat Broadhurst in the Irish championships but they selected Broadhurst anyway.

Amy has been quite vocal about it, but Boxing Ireland can’t really reply to some of her comments without being accused of pettiness. They’ve decided to take the high road and allow her transfer through without objection.

The now replaced British 60kg fighters have claimed Broadhurst hasn’t made weight yet which adds another wrinkle.

Grainne Walsh just qualified and Broadhurst is at home. I’m very happy with these outcomes

A good morning for :IRL

It's a pity for Gemini but she was unlucky in the draw. It was impossible to win against the Thai. In any other pair, the Italian would 90% have advanced. She defeated a strong Turkish woman here. I feel so sorry for her. Apparently 8 OQ in boxing is good for us but the last tournament was completely unused and the men's light categories showed nothing here. Unfortunately, the world is moving forward so much that with these limits, qualifying for the Olympic Games is often more difficult than winning a medal. It was much easier 20 years ago.

Yaaaa :hyper:

We have our 2nd Men’s quota in Boxing.

Amit Panghal :IND will be going to his 2nd olympics. He deserves this.

With this quota we have a total of 5 boxers qualified for Paris. We have 2 more in the finals today. Hopefully we can make it 7!
