Recommended Posts

and there is only 4 categories i  men ?

Cuba is the best nation in boxing , good part of US boxers came from there

I dont know how can Uzbekistan learn this sport in short period while they were very weak ,i dont trust this miracle

Well they weren’t a nation then to be fair. Since independence they’ve been very strong

Cuba might end up with qualifiers in all 7 men’s weights. In the Pan Am games, each of their boxers who didn’t qualify was beaten by the gold medalist

How can brazil and uzbekistan win 10 qota and cuba 4

Brazil is doing a very serious job in boxing since late 2000s at least, probably one of the best examples of PanAm Games and OG legacy for sport.

And Cuba... well, they are having many issues with sports, not only boxing.

we always had at least one boxer in the Olympics since 1992, this is the last chance to keep that record going, even though I'm not hopeful but some of our better boxers got OK draws which means if they do their own job they can advance few rounds and maybe win something at the end.

but tomorrow will be a nervous day for Ali Habibinejad, not because of his own bout, but because his fate is not in his own hands :(. he needs some help from the Spaniard to stay in the draw.

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
