Apparently an Australian commentator was cancelled because he joked "you know what women are like, hanging around, doing their makeup"

Oh boy. Or, I mean, oh person :p

By cancel do you mean the "fired from his job and banned for life from working anywhere" variety or the "some people on Twitter are tuttutting him" variety?

The first one, I believe? :p

At least, I doubt he's banned forever, but being fired for a joke (lame as the joke may have been).

I mean, cancelation is a spectrum.

Big difference between "OBS asking you to take the day off for this to blow over" and "OBS won't work with you ever again" (and obviously lots of stuff in the middle).

My cyclist friend, should you be using the word lame related to others after coming up with "If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?"

Of topic but when you realise that they canceled Allo Allo, Only Fools and Horses for something that is so benign... Both shows are British national treasure.

But ok, 21st century is so "touchy".

I would use another word instead of touchy :d

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
