Very happy for :GRE Christou making the 100 backstroke final after being so close in Tokyo and missing out

He has a huge chance to make history in the final with a medal but it will be very difficult...

Also very sad for :GRE Makrygiannis coming in 9th, missing the final by 0.02 seconds . So close to having two Greek finalists! However he is young and if he can keep improving then we may see him in the final in 2028 :)

Since nobody mentioned him yet, just want to give a mention to :JPN Tomoyuki Matsushita who set a PB by 1.5 seconds to get silver behind :FRA Marchand in the 400 IM including beating "guaranteed silver medalist" :USA Carson Foster. Japanese swimmers have had a tendency to underperform at the big meets so it's nice to see him step up to the occasion.

A user named „yamatake“ on SwimSwam predicted his medal. Apparently his coach Norimasa Hirai has had medal winning athletes (Kitajima, Hagino) at every Olympics since 2004.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Looks like :ISR Gorbenko peaked at the Mare Nostrum competition this year. She's out of the 400m IM final. So is last years world championship bronze medallist :AUS Forrester.

My prediction contest is struggling right now
