🇮🇹 Reigning Olympic high jump champion Gianmarco Tamberi20240810_193707.jpg is headed to the ER. May not compete in tonight’s high jump final. Has been dealing with a renal colic and was vomiting blood twice.

I have had many attacks of renal colic in my life and I have never vomited blood. When I went to the hospital the first time, I got an injection and it went away the same day. Since Tamberi was in the hospital a few days ago in Italy, it`s impossible that they didn`t find another large stone in the second kidney, since he had tests done. And only large stones can cause severe pain. Maybe it is a different disease?

RAI has already sent an extraordinary third edition of 'Olympic TV' to talk about Tamberi. At the moment it is very likely that he will not be competing.

No chance that Gianmarco can compete.

Even if pain lessens, he would be so fatigued to compete.

I feel so sorry for him. :(

Not drinking and taking continuous saunas, however, is sick; since his fight with his father he is unrecognisable. I wouldn't want him to have trusted anyone wrong.

BREAKING: Tamberi released from hospital, will try to compete.

But is it possible that everyone on his staff is a wimp? He just vomited blood all night....

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
