:FRA and :NED both will have to go all guns blazing in Rome to get a timed place.

There’s other events where they can achieve a timed place, but that seems like the most likely bet.

We did not take part in the mixed to ensure these qualifications... Do not understand the logic of world athletics.....

That was the federation's decision to do that though. Again, plenty of other countries chose to double up some of their athletes.

How dumb was the Aussie third leg runner? So obvious what would happen!

Thought it was a 4x200. Easy mistake.

Predicting :CAN to finish 3rd. Two near misses today would be so fitting to cap off a disappointing day of Olympic qualifying (marathon, and 3x3 basketball were the others)

same for us, no quotas in 3x3 basketball and no men's 4x400 relay. It wasn't :CAN and :FRA DAY :water:

:FRA 2:58.45 at the world championships in Budapest will not be enough?

It *should* be. You'd obviously make them the strong favourites for that spot. But it would be risky to chance it by not taking a team to ensure it.

the problem is that our best runner Thomas Jordier is out of Europe and maybe even the Olympics; hard to do without him

Yeah, I think the Mixed Relay teams are unpredictable but I doubt there are three unqualified sub-3:00 teams out there.
