given what happened Today, I expect Chamizo and Salkazanov (and maybe also Kuramagomedov) all in the same half of the bracket in the final tournament, with a highway for Demirtas to the final (and the quota place)

#manipulateddraw

:bones:

They are 3 qualifies in Istambul, so he may have a repechage if, for example, he loses to a Salkazanov before final. What's worse is that Italian wrestling can only count on Chamizo to get the quota in Paris. The rest of the team is basically gone... One Chamizo won more fights today - 3, than the entire remaining Italian team combined - 2 :(

Women’s FS

Quotas

50 Kg: :UKR & :AIN

53 Kg: :ROU & :AIN
57 Kg: :GER & :AIN

62 Kg: :BUL & :AIN

68 Kg: :POL & :AIN

76 Kg: :HUN & :TUR

AIN quotas from russia are unsure:

Today Irina Vinner (head of russian rhytmic gymnastics and wife of Alisher Usmanov, suspended head of FIE) proposed to have a meeting of a coach council of all sports. This council should decide whether to send athletes to the Olympics or not. Mamiashvili (head of russian wrestling) supported this proposal. In person he sounds like a proponent of participation, and he says that right now they are going to fight for licenses, but it does not mean that they will take part in the Olympics - they will decide later.

What do you think, if R country will refuse all their quotas (or won't be approved) then B country will follow them or will compete in Olympics?

In my oppinion, B country will compete - they did not show any intention to follow R country in this field.

Then all wrestlers from R country representing P country, A country, F country, S country, H country, B country etc should also decline to participate and then hardly 10-12 wrestlers from Europe will be in Olympics at least in men's event

according to the Italian Wrestling Federation's President, the infamous match involving Frank Chamizo has had some consequence already...

the whole crew that was refereeing that bout has been excluded from the Olympics :yikes:

which basically it's a pure and simple confession that more than something went wrong on sunday afternoon

in the meantime, in an interview to the major (?) Italian newspaper, la Repubblica, Chamizo himself said that he's been offered 300,000 US $ to intentionally lose that match :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

of course, he refused but he said that in that exact moment he understood that he wasn't going to win in any case, as someone else would happily accept an amount like that to "adjust" the things just as the Azeri wanted  :hairpull:

Are there any public texts to read it in detail?

unfortunately, it's only for subscribers (and I'm not)

I guess that somewhere on the web (i.e. telegram or other sites with illegal stuff) sooner or later it will appear, but right now the only way is to pay for the newspaper's digital edition

this is just an extract, not the full interview:

“I soldi muovono tutto.

hope that google translate doesn't do too much damage to the content

and these are the words of the FIJLKAM president, Wrestling section:

    • so, the Swiss reigning champions, who saved their ass in the last match of the RS, now are almost safe in the semis once again...   very impressive performance also by RB Salzburg, I didn't expect them to make such a good run, even if the 2nd leg match won't be easy at all and they're all but safe in the final four

    • I guess 65, 79, 88, 110, 110+ will be the Olympic classes for 2028 (I don't think IOC would allow them to increase the number of gold medals available at the Games yet...most likely they want to to stay with the current lineup and see how it goes in the next Olympic cycle in terms of doping scandals before taking any decision)  or maybe they will keep those weights for the "regular activity" and later on they will set 5 different weight classes only good for Olympic purposes, with dedicated tournaments when it's time for the OQ (like Taekwondo, more or less)  but it's just my personal speculation, I have no infos from the inside
    • Today the funniest tournament of the season, the Shoot Out, will starts
    • Luckily for us, it happened exactly as we thought. Unfortunately, the Serbian players had to play the entire match, the difference in value between the starters and the reserves being quite large, and thus at the end of the match their fatigue was evident.
    • if they limit the number of qualified athletes to 8 per category that will not exceed the allocated quota (marginally). I know 8 athletes only is a bit harsh but will be more competitive.
    • Thank you for putting this together, it was fun to go through. From your keyboard to God's ears on Canada's short track team here (I believe you have us at 4-1-1, which is realistic if everything works out).   Leaving us off the podium in speed skating women's pursuit was interesting.   Three medals of any colour in curling would be celebrated at this point after two disasterous cycles.   In hockey, I'll always take our girls over the Americans (was "lucky" enough to see them lose in 2018 in person, though. Only time in 6 Games. Haha...hahahahaha...ha).    For the men, I said above unless Canada finds a goaltender I'm not too optimistic. USA is just too well rounded. But lots can happen by then, and in a one game elimination tournament.
    • big decision by IWF   new weight categories, 8 for men and 8 for women from June 2025   Men 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 98kg, 110kg, +110kg Women 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, +86kg   and this means all World records will be erased AGAIN !    https://iwf.sport/2024/12/03/iwf-executive-board-meeting-in-manama-brn-december-2-3-main-decisions/   I think that was a good decision, 10 weights was too much. but erasing the current World Records was the down side of this decision.   but does this mean they have some agreements with IOC to have all these weights at the Olympics ? that looks unlikely though  but looking at the numbers and the gap between weights none of them look like a "non-Olympic weight" at least that's what IWF thinks.
