Women's 400m

Amber Anning has had a great start to the season, and it is surely only a matter of time before she goes sub-50 seconds. Victoria Ohuruogu made a strong start to the season and is well placed to get the Olympic qualifying standard over the next few weeks.

Men's 400m

Last year, Matt Hudson Smith DNF'd in 2 of his first 3 400m races. This year, he was DNF in his first race before clocking 45.00 in Louisiana this weekend. Given his individual medal from last year's World Champs, in theory that should be sufficient to secure his qualification to the Olympic team.

Men's 110m Hurdles

There's positive signs that we could be heading towards a full team for the sprint hurdles. Tade Ojora heads the rankings with his 13.48 from the Mt Sacs Relay this weekend and it is also looking like Andy Pozzi has put his injury issues behind him as he has already completed about half a dozen races this season with his best time being 13.49.

Women's 100m Hurdles

Cindy Sember is getting close to her best times again and has wrapped up the Olympic qualifying standard early with a run of 12.57 in Florida last weekend. Isabel Wakefield has also been making great progress this year with her 13.15 getting close to the European Championship qualification standard.

Oh No

Does this mean possibly no jumpers? In any of the four vertical jump. Surely we can’t have only KJT in Hepthalon the only one doing any?

There's a couple of female long jumpers who don't need a lot of improvement to qualify but it depends on their fitness of course.

Jacob Fincham-Dukes in the men's event has already jumped 8.02 this year. The Q is 8.27.

Let's not talk about triple jump...

:clap:Can I applaud you for not pointing out the obvious flaw in the previous poster's attempt to spread yet more misery and misinformation to the group. The "vertical jumps" that they seem to think will be bereft of British participation are actually in pretty rude health given that's the pole vault and high jump.

To be honest, I think I didn't read it properly

Selection of :GBR athletes in action over the course of this weekend including:

27th Apr: Shanghai Diamond League :CHN: Megan Keith secured the OQS in the 10,000m at the first time of asking. In Shanghai, she goes over the 5000m. Her PB in the event is just under 14:57 from last year so she would need to find 5 seconds to dip under the standard. Ethan Hussey will compete in the 800m and Daryll Neita gets her outdoor season underway in the 200m.

27th-28th: 37th Multistars :ITA: Jade O'Dowda is scheduled to compete in the Heptathlon. The OQS is 6480 - 225 points more than her current PB but it's not out of reach. If she can get under 13.5 for the 100m hurdles and get over 1.86 in the high jump, she'll set herself up with a great chance of getting the standard despite a relatively weak shot put. If she does fall short of the OQS, her secondary target will be the UK Athletics standard of 6260 - that's just 5 points more than her current PB.

27-Apr: Texas Invitational :USA: Dina Asher-Smith will line up in both the 100m and 200m. Whilst she has put in a couple of solid relay legs so far this season, her opening outing in the 200m earlier this month was probably not quite what she wanted it to be. Yusuf Bizimana will be going in the 800m

27-Apr: Desert Heat Classic :USA: David King opens his outdoor season in the 110m Hurdles, whilst Brodie Young is in the 400m

27-Apr: Drake Relays :USA: Tade Ojora lines up in the 110m hurdles. He currently heads up the UK list for 2024 with his 13.48 but needs to find another 0.2 seconds to hit the OQS. Cindy Sember already has the OQS and has been in great form so far this year and will look to continue that in the 100m hurdles. Lizzie Bird makes her 2024 track debut in the 3000m Steeplechase

27-Apr: Penn Relays :USA: Kyle Langford competes in the 800m

Gutting for Sawyers. Although hopefully she won't miss the Games completely (if she doesn't want to, that is). She was excellent on comms at the World Champs. The Beeb would be insane not to use her in Paris if she's up for it.

Do you know when Lizzie Bird last ran as she was out injured for most if not all of last season?
