Rafa Maciel 1,606 Posted April 20, 2024 Author #103 Share Posted April 20, 2024 Jeremiah Azu denied a new PB and Olympic qualifying standard at the Kip Keino Classic. He clocked 10.00 to finish 3rd but unfortunately, the wind was +2.2m/s. Rafa Maciel 1,606 Posted April 21, 2024 Author #105 Share Posted April 21, 2024 Great run at London Marathon for Emilie Caress who becomes the 2nd fastest Brit ever with a 2:06.46 and will undoubtedly confirm his place in GB squad for Paris at tomorrow's selectors meeting (still don't know why he wasn't selected at the first meeting). Joining him on the squad should be Mahamed Mahamed after he clocked 2:07.05. Rose Harvey likely favourite to get the nod for the final spot on the women's squad. mpjmcevoy 1 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/26631-gb-athletics/page/11/#findComment-622912 Share on other sites

Expand I think Cairess just had to 'prove form'. A fantastic set of runs from the British men, even all the way back to Callum Hawkins in 16th getting through a decent marathon for the first time in donkeys - he won't be in Paris, but at least he's back. Cairess and Mohamad both look like men who could mix it up, Hawkins style, come the summer. I do wish the commentators made more of the fact that this is also the British Championships, much like night of 10k PBS, and there is a significant race within a race... Rafa Maciel 1,606 Posted April 21, 2024 Author #108 Share Posted April 21, 2024 April State of Play Women's 100m With April coming to an end, we've now seen the vast majority of GB sprinters start their outdoor season and there has been plenty of positives. In the absence of Asher-Smith and Nieta, Imani Lansiquot leads the British rankings with her 11.02 in Florida this weekend. Amy Hunt's strong indoor form seems to have carried over into the outdoor season as she records a new PB 11.12 in Florida. Men's 100m In contrast to the women, we haven't seen the main GB contenders take to the outdoor track. Jeremiah Azu has come closest to getting the Olympic qualifying standard when he clocked 10.00 at the Kip Keino Classic. Unfortunately, the wind was +2.2m/s. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey tops the times so far this year with a 10.17 and behind him, there have been PBs for John Otugade, Jona Efoloko and Ade Adewale. Rafa Maciel 1,606 Posted April 21, 2024 Author #109 Share Posted April 21, 2024 Women's 200m Dina Asher Smith finished 3rd in the 200m at the Mt Sacs Relays this weekend with a 22.80 and tops the British outdoor rankings for 2024. Whilst it may be disappointing to finish behind Alfred and Adeleke, it was nevertheless a solid start to the season. Given she has started her season a month earlier than 2023, it will be interesting to see how her results next month compare to previous years. Amber Anning's is the form athlete at the moment with her indoor mark of 22.60 topping the ranking list for Britain. She's been a bit unlucky so far this season with the wind gauge - her 22.47 run in Fayetteville was with a +7.4m/s. Men's 200m As with the 100m, not all of the big names have joined the fray yet this season and whilst we haven't seen any new Olympic qualifying standards, there have been new PBs for Jona Efoloko and Michael Ohioze. Epic Failure 355 Posted April 21, 2024 #110 Share Posted April 21, 2024 Jeriel Quainoo beating both NMB and Efoloko in Florida is potentially interesting. He has the UK lead with 20.34 (+1.9ms) right now. He's only 21 so definitely one to watch going forward.
