Men's 51Kg: Kiaran Macdonald takes out :HUN Istvan Szaka 3-2 in round 1.

He will be up against :TTO Al Jaleel Jokhu in the round of 32. Jokhu competed in the BoxAm tournament in La Nucia last month and lost in the first round (RSC Round 1) against :HUN Istvan Szaka so Macdonald should be the favourite to get through to last 16.

Men's 57Kg: Owain Harris-Allan came through with a 4-1 win against :DOM Jose Luis De Lo Santos Feliz. He'll next fight :NZL Alex Mukuka in what should be a winnable bout.

Men's 80Kg: It was a disappointing end to the night with Taylor Bevan going down to 5-0 defeat at the hands of :HUN Pylyp Akilov.

Three :GBR fighters take to the ring tomorrow:

Morning Session:

Women's 60Kg - Shona Whitwell v :KOS Donjeta Sadiku

Afternoon Session:

No Brits

Evening Session:

Men's 63.5Kg - Patris Mughalzai v :ESA Samuel Contreras

Men's 71Kg - Lewis Richardson v :IND Dev Nishant (India having a pretty poor tournament so far - hopefully Richardson can continue that trend)

I think we are probably heading for the smallest GB boxing team since Beijing. For the last 3 games, GB have had at least 10 boxers qualify - at the moment I can't see us getting into double figures for Paris. In Beijing, we had 7 and we might even struggle to match that this time. Having said that, probably worth bearing in mind that the number of places available in boxing has dropped for Paris - there's about 40-50 fewer quotas available.

Perhaps more worrying is the lack of an obvious medal favourite in the squad - if they don't come back with any medals from Paris then GB Boxing will likely see their funding cut significantly.

Probably removed entirely. Even the successful sports are preparing for cuts particularly if the narrative of the entire games is a big decrease in medals.

There needs to be golds in the primetime sports of swimming and Athletics and I’m not sure either will produce a gold.

:GBR's pretty mediocre performance in the tournament continues in the evening session

Men's 63.5Kg - Patris Mughalzai def. :ESA Samuel Contreras on a split decision (4-1) and will be up :ETH or :IRI opponent in the round of 32.

Men's 71Kg - :IND Dev Nishant def. Lewis Richardson on a split decision (3-1). This was always going to be a tough bout with a World Champs bronze medalist but it is still a disappointing end to the day.

    • Serbia- Italy 0-6   I don't know how tjis Serbia can to draw 0-0 with Sweden at home... I have the impression that Sweden plays its best matches against Italy and is weak in the rest? However, 1 place in this group will be difficult to do and we won't avoid a playoff spot for spot on the World Cup. If we're to dream of first place, we absolutely must win in Denmark on Saturday.
    • However it's Antoni Kowalski who becomes the first  player to qualify for the Crucible TV phase after beating  Jamie Jones 10-8 in the last Q round!

    • wins 3-2 and also missed a penalty. Poland's chances have been reduced so much they basically have to win in Dublin in four days time.
