Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Venues

look, I'm used to the same narrative every week here in Milan (and every Summer in general in Italy)

in Milan they say there's always too much pollution, but guess what? it's only about stopping the private circulation on weekends, never Monday through Friday, when people must go to work

if the air is heavily polluted, it's 365 days/year, not 260

in many places close to the big cities, they say people can't bath because of E.Coli and other bacteria through the cold months, but suddenly, each and every Summer, when you're at risk of losing many tourists, the sea water becomes crystal clear and clean...

so, if they say that the river Seine is not healthy (and for what I know, it's years that bathing is prohibited there, not just from yesterday and the recent shitty weather days), I just can't trust politicians that from one day to another change that evaluation only because the Olympics are at the door (or because of a couple of sunny days), 'cause the quality of a big river (not to mention the sea) can't change that much that quickly

that's biology

then, there's politics and politicians...and unfortunately they take the final decisions

p.s. always ready to ask for pardon if I'm (really) wrong ;)

Yup and Multi sport event host will only see negatives in the media (that's what gets the clicks after all)

It's not like they will turn the water quality by prayers and magic. The current project has been set up in 2015 (it goes beyond Paris 2024), billions have been spent. They built stuff like this. Is it going to work ? I don't know. Might they cheat their way ? Possibly.

Only thing I know is that they claimed that the system will not be compatible with shit weather. And the weather in June was apocalyptic shit.

I hope it all works well and all the atheltes will have no consequences for swimming in the Seine

if they survived Rio 2016, we can even be optimist for Paris

still, I don't think that any system can turn things around in a few days just with the help of a bit of sun

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
