What did he intefere with though, the guy who's lane he fell into had already finished the race

Yeah, but other swimmers were still racing. The rule is that everyone has to finish, isn’t it? Wasn’t there a DQF in an Olympic Relay for this? Sydney 2000? I’d have thought that any 1500m swimmer would learn the rules at about age 9.

the example i read was 2001 world championships where the Australian women's relay team got dq because they all jumped into the pool right after winning as other teams were still racing, which sounds like a different thing, not to mention way more of an impact, and way more disruptive to a race,so i get the dq in that case.

It's whatever honestly, better this happened to him now than at a more important time,i just gagged at comments, about how this was apparently a white persons problem,or ''he knows how poc athletes feel now' as if black swimmers experience this all the time, people are just  dumb

Yeah, that might be the one.  But I’ve noticed that in 1500m since those days, no-one even gives their neighbour a handshake until all racers are finished - a long time in the heats!.

TYR Pro Swim Series Westmont Psych Sheets: https://swimswam.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/2024-pss-westmont-pre-scratch-psych-sheet.pdf

All sessions will be live-streamed on the USA Swimming app, free of charge. Wish they would just stream it on YouTube though.

For the Knoxville meet it was possible to get url of the underlying YouTube stream from the USA Swimming app so hopefully it's the same again.

Looks like the US has found their distance superstar of the future.

Yesterday, Luka Mijatovic swam 1:49.63 in the 200m freestyle, to break the National Age Group Record and the Australian Age Group Record set by Ian Thorpe.

He also swam 4:24.20 in the 400m IM to break Michael Phelps's National Age Group Record. Also owns the National Age Group Records in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle.

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
