:GBR Katie Boulter might be the most popular Brit in Hong Kong since 1997 judging by the crowd support. And she's into the 250 final there.

It was a great atmosphere for the match - particularly when :CHN Yuan managed to up her level in the second set.

The crowd favourite all week has been :CAN Fernandez so I was a bit surprised that so many of the crowd didn't come back after the first match - although they could have just been stuck in the queue for the bar.

Should be a good final tomorrow.

These Asian 250 (former International or Tier III and IV back in the old days) are back and they are the easiest way to rack up points and mount a jump in the standings. They used to be held in around the spring but with the Doha & Dubai expansion they've been moved to the tail end of the season after the COVID limit was lifted.

As far as 250s go, they’re definitely weaker than during the beginning of the season, but the Hong Kong field has Shnaider, Boulter, Fernandez, and Kenin, I would say that’s decent…

Merida on the other hand… well  :d

Hong Kong was also meant to have Osaka and Raducanu. Both pulled out, but Osaka still showed up to do some fan events.

I hope that with Gismondi will be different, especially since she was already a great talent in her junior years. The problem in Italy is that for the past 15 years, aside from Pellegrino, there has been a miss of stability in other athletes: there are some booms of excellent form, but later they disappear. I also worry that funding for cross-country skiing will be cut after the Cortina Olympics.
