If the season starts on time,  Irina Starykh will miss some time.  She was scheduled for an operation on her neck back in July, only to have  the Dr contract COVID19, and the operation cancelled while she was already in the operating room!

Also in Russia, the city of Labytnangi, just east of the Ural Mountains and south of the Kara Sea, will get a brand new biathlon center.  I love their Town flag!

The Mongolian team, or 5 of the 8 athletes, have arrived in Belarus for 3 months of training.  Alexander Popov is training them.

Interesting article with Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold  where she talks about a wide range of things including the great Norway season from a year ago to Stina Nilsson.

Former :RUS biathlete Anton Shipulin (brother of :SVK gold star Anastasiya Kuzmina) is in hospital with a positive coronavirus test. He announced it through his instagram informing that his family members, wife Luiza and daughter Mira, are also ill.

All three were probably infected during their vacation in Sochi.

Shipulin and all his family have recovered and have now tested negative for Covid19.

More of the random stuff:

The Canadian Province of Ontario might get a new Biathlon training facility far in the western part of the province.

From what I can gather from this Google translated article, Eva Kristejn Puskarčíková contracted Lyme's disease. - There is one of the classic google translate comments in the article : "The former biathlon star is also infected. She added a strong message and showed her how to have fun in bed."  :yikes:

The Blinkfestivalen happend this weekend.  Clips are not up on Youtube yet, but from the write-up on Biathlonworld, it looks like they were not downtown this year, but at an actual biathlon range.

This is the climb in the 7.5 km race - Wow!

Cool, if there are spoiler-free videos on YouTube, someone please post them :cheer:

Same for the Lysebotn rollerskiing climb.

So COVID closures are starting to affect the fall/winter sports.  Norway's planned fall camp in France at altitude might be moved it Italy or cancelled competley.  Sweden also announced that they will not have an out of the country training camp this fall.

Also 7th edition of "Biathlon dla Każdego" - a local event organized by Polish Biathlon Federation for amateurs - is cancelled as well due rising cases in Silesia, where event would be held.

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
