Totallympics Awards 2023

Speaking of Gymnastics (Simone Biles comes to mind), what you guys think about adding the "Comeback of the Year" category? Do we have enough athletes/national teams that have made a comeback performance this year?

Yeah, I thought about her too because that's really incredible, but I didn't think others would notice (i.e. non-brazilians).

If I remember correctly, we set our alarms to watch Aline's races in those championships :d

Irrelevant yet fun fact: next month we'll be keeping some of her equipment safe in our garage while they're off to compete in Slovenia, so they don't need to haul everything everywhere :p

Probably, although I might be a bit biased because I always find comebacks cool and inspiring and in some cases the essence of sports :p

Same here, but I probably don't watch as much stuff as you do. I mostly remember some moments from Gymnastics and the Pan American Games, none of which will have a chance to actually be nominated :p

I only watch major championships and multi-sports games, so my votes might be off the beaten path a bit as well.

Isn't that what makes things like this fun though? :d

Like TISC, it's fun to realize tons of people actually experience music (or sports, in this case) in many entirely different ways than we do ourselves.

Just a few updates. I accepted @OlympicIRL suggestion and now we will have the Best Doubles/Pair or Mixed Team category. If we have more mixed events in the future, perhaps we can create a separate category. We'll be also moving forward with the Comeback of the Year category, and I would deeply appreciate any suggestions for this award.

Femke Bol maybe? For winning a world title after her fall in the relay.

It’s the only thing that pops into my head without reading any old threads or looking at results.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
