I was cheering for Hyderabad Sunrisers some years ago when IPL was live on Youtube.

Too bad those free live coverage times are history.

IPL is now available free on Jio TV (https://www.jiocinema.com/) with various camera angles including spidercam, umpire, stump cam. Not sure whether it can be accessed via VPN

game #17, :IND b. :BAN by 7 wickets

impressive stuff by the Host Nation...after :BAN scored 256/8 in 50 overs in the 1st inning, Virat Kohli answered with his "century" from 97 balls and led :IND to 261/3 in 41.3 overs to close down the match

Tomorrow, time for game #18, the very, very important clash between :AUS and :PAK at 10.30 a.m. CET in Bengaluru

the loser, especially if it's :AUS, might get already out of the race for the top 4 spots at the end of the round robin phase

game #18, :AUS b. :PAK by 62 runs

in the first inning, a lethal combination of unwatchable :PAK bowlers and the :AUS duo Warner (163 runs from 124 balls :yikes:) and Marsh (121 runs from 108 balls) being unstoppable basically killed the match

:PAK tried an amazing comeback in the second stint, but when their best batsmen did fall one after another (Iftikhar the last one, who almost put :PAK back in line for a miracle), any hope was gone and now :PAK are really in trouble, if they want to stay in the medal race they really need to win against teams like :ENG and :RSA (other than all the "smaller" teams)

:AUS scored 367/9 in 50 overs, :PAK stopped at 305/all out in 45.3 overs

At this run rate from Sri Lanka in the 2nd innings (153 runs and 7 wickets with 188 balls remaining), the Netherlands can not produce another surprise. :(

In the other match of the day, South Africa is building a solid 192 runs after 30 overs in the first innings.

Right, yes, but what I mean is that massive wins can be overs or in wickets and small wins as well. Whereas first I thought that maybe "won by X wickets" meant it was a small victory whereas "won by X overs" was a big victory, because of a different unit of measurement being used.

I still have 4,5 years or so to learn the basics... :p

I think you are looking at a massive win for South Africa right now. They've scored 399 in their inning and England is struggling 145/8 after 20.3 overs. It is a matter of time until they are bowled out.

wow! just wow! what a show by :RSA :yikes:

game #19, :SRI beat :NED by 5 wickets

:NED posted a 262/all out in 49.4 overs, then :SRI replied with a late charge, scoring 263/5 in 48.2 overs to avoid another upset by the Dutch team

in game #20, instead, :RSA destroyed :ENG by 229 runs

under very, very difficult weather conditions (hot and humid beyond imagination), the South Africans put on the most impressive show of the CWC so far, scoring 399/7 in 50 overs (thanks above all to the heroic performance by Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 109 runs from 67 balls despite at a certain point he was completely done because of the weather and also an ankle injury)

:ENG never looked in contention and in the 2nd inning they only scored 170 runs, going all out in just 22 overs

now the reigning world champions are basically out of the race for the top 4 places and the semifinals; only a miraculous and improbable renaissance in the next games (they need to win them all to get back in the race) would give them a chance

Standings after gameday #4

https://www.cricketworldcup.com/standings

Tomorrow, it's time for the 5th gameday to start: :IND will face :NZL at 10.30 a.m. CET in Dharamsala in the most anticipated match of the whole round robin (for what we've seen so far, at least)

the most anticipated match of the CWC so far did confirm how :IND are really the big, big favourite to win it all

not even the brilliant :NZL team could do anything against the host Nation

game #21, :IND beat :NZL by 4 wickets

the Home team started with a very solid performance by their bowlers, letting :NZL score only 273/all out in 50 overs in the 1st inning

then, :IND answered with a relatively easy 274/6 in 48 overs to earn the 5th win in a row and consolidate the lead in the standings

Tomorrow, in game #22 a true derby is on stage, as :PAK faces :AFG at 10.30 a.m. CET in Chennai

    • Fewer people do do this sport compared to the 90s, less money is spent on it, etc. In the case of women, at some point this sport was almost abandoned because of the belief that it was impossible to beat Scandinavia ( the times of Norwegian domination with Bjoergen and Johaug at the forefront). Only in the last 2 years has Markus Cramer been hired, who is gradually rebuilding the men's and women's teams. Suffice it to say that the last medalist of the World Championships for Italy in the women's was Arianna Follis in 2011... I will also remind you that in 2022 Pellegrino and de Fabiani trained with the Russian team, because the rest of the Italian team was in such poor shape that they couldn`t train together
    • Well that is a totally different question  I too have wondered what happened to Italian cross-country and how there is no one coming for so many years. But it shouldn't take away from the sports where progress has been made.
    • Where to Watch guide.  Discovery plus in most of Europe       https://www.ucitrackchampionsleague.com/watch-the-races
    • Appetite grows with eating. Especially since it's not like we develop in every winter sport... For example, 20 years ago we were a powerhouse in cross-country skiing and now we have only 1 Pellegrino (34 age) and a few talented youngsters. And let's remember that our performance in Turin was objectively weak for us: only 11 medals in total. Now, when I hear that we will to win 2O+, some discipline must definitely add medals and also compensate for the losses in cross-country skiing, for example.
    • The problem is that this mixed team has never played together since then. There was talk of personal obstacles. I don't know how it`s now.
    • Well that explains why she is wearing more clothes with every passing day.   Nevertheless that team is still one of the best in the world and is a vast improvement on what Italy was doing 10-20 years ago.
    • Any idea where a full schedule can be found yet? I remember last seasons the website was always godawful in terms of providing that basic kind of information..
    • Constantinis team have made huge improvements since 2022 even if they are not best yet. And Constantini never was world leading in mixed doubles before Beijing olympic either so it is not like she really have lost anything since 2022 either, except not being able to repeat that success.
    • She had health problems yesterday. Nevertheless, after the gold in mixed doubles with Mosaner in 2022, I counted a bit more on her development. I still think that the biggest chance for us in 2026 will be the mixed team, rather than our teams.
    • I don't know who Italy should field for the doubles? Sinner has the greatest individual strength but he probably doesn't train with anyone on the team. Last year Sinner played 2 doubles with Sonego in the Davis Cup (two wins) but this year Sonego isn`t in the squad. On the other hand the Bolelli-Vavassori doubles are well-coordinated, as is the Argentine one, but individually these players don't even mean as much as Sinner's 1 hand. For me the Sinner/Berettini option is possible but the question is: did they train together on last day?
