game #22, :AFG beat :PAK by 8 wickets

another upset at the CWC, :PAK have definitely gone, they're no longer mentally in the tournament and they're also out of contention for the top places

after :PAK scored 282/7 in 50 overs in the 1st inning, their bowlers just couldn't hold the :AFG bats off nor find any wicket early in the inning

so, :AFG scored 286 runs with only 2 wickets fallen in 49 inning, sealing the deal on a great chase

Game #24, :AUS destroyed :NED by 309 runs :yikes:

unworthy fool by the :NED

they gave up 399/8 in 50 overs in the 1st inning and then they just stayed in the locker room in the 2nd, going 90/all out in only 21 overs, one of the worst performances in the recent history of the CWC (the worst in this CWC)

total disaster for :ENG

the defending champions basically already abdicated

Game #25, :SRI humiliated :ENG by 8 wickets

:ENG only scored 156 before they went all out in just 33.2 overs

then, it was almost a joke for :SRI to close down the match, as they scored 160 runs givin'up only 2 wickets in only 25.4 overs

almost, but not quite!

:RSA saved their ass vs :PAK earlier Today in a match that was apparently locked for them, but suddenly became a real thriller in the last 10 overs of the 2nd inning, when the South Africans got short of wickets and the Asians went so close as nobody thought to an amazing "remuntada"

game #26, :RSA edged out :PAK by just 1 wicket

:PAK scored 270/all out in 46.4 overs in the 1st inning, then :RSA was comfortably on their way to easily complete the chase, but when the last pure hitter, Aiden Markram, went out in the 41st over, a dripping began for them, as the last batsmen couldn't hit a boundary

helped also by a few "wide" and by a controversial "umpire call", finally :RSA could finish their job thanks to most unexpected hero with a bat in his hands, Keshav Maharaj, who found the last runs to complete the chase and take the victory home

the final :RSA score is 271/9 in 47.2 overs

what a match!!!

in game #27:AUS just edged out :NZL by 5 runs in an amazing record-breaking clash of Titans

:AUS went out red hot and led by Travis Head's "century", they scored a crazy 388/all out in 49.2 overs in the 1st inning

it looked that their lead was quite comfortable, but :NZL didn't think so and in the 2nd inning started a furious chase, which remained short of only 5 runs, as they went 383/9 in 50 overs

remarkable "century" also for the New Zealander Rachin Ravindra

this match improves the numbers of the early clash between :RSA and :SRI and with 771 total runs establish the new record for a ODI CWC match

game #28, :NED beat :BAN by 87 runs

basically a no contest, the :NED team scored only 229/all out in the 1st inning, but :BAN never gave the idea of being even close to complete their chase and in fact they stopped at 142/all out in 42+ overs in the 2nd stint

after the very emotional Oceanian Derby, this match was good just to take a quick sleep in the mid of the afternoon (European time)

Tomorrow, game #29 features the Host Nation vs the reigning champions, :IND vs :ENG at 9.30 a.m. CET in Lucknow

under normal circumstances, this would be a not-to-be-missed matchup, but given :ENG situation, only the "name" of a great rivalry remains, which takes a lot of hype away from the game

game #29, :IND thrashed :ENG by 100 runs

:IND had a poor offensive inning (for their standard), scoring only 229/9 in 50 overs therefore it looked that :ENG could have a chance to upset the Host Nation, but their batsmen proved completely spent and the Indian bowlers instead were on fire (especially Shami and Bumrah)

so, :ENG only scored 129/all out in just 34.5 overs in the 2nd inning and the match was quickly done and dusted

for :ENG this is the 5th loss in 6 matches, which puts them in the last place of the standings...really humiliating situation for the reigning champions :hairpull:

the dream is still alive!

game #30, :AFG beat :SRI by 7 wickets

:SRI set a target of 241/all out in 49.3 overs, which is not particularly impressive

and in fact, :AFG could easily complete the chase with a score of 242/3 in just 45.2 overs
