DAY 13 - August 8th

CANOE SPRINT - Women's K4 500m

1. :POL Poland

2. :NZL New Zealand

3. :AUS Australia

Oh, that would be awesome, that would be a first ever olympic gold medal for Poland in canoeing and we already have 22 (!!!) medals in this sport (8 silver, 14 bronze). Karolina Naja has 4 olympic medals already (1 silver: Tokyo K2 500m, 3 bronze: London K2 500m, Rio K2 500m, Tokyo K4 500m) - one of the greatest but not so well-known athletes in Poland these days,

I hope you are right in your predictions and I am terribly wrong here...

No way Djok misses one last chance to win Olympic Singles Gold and complete the set. He'll arrive on one leg if he has to.

Day 14 Fri 09.08

244. ATHLETICS - W 4x100m Relay

1. United States

2. Jamaica

3. Ivory Coast

After all the 100m and 200m and all the NBC hype this is an event which will be remembered for a long time. Jamaicans don't have great first 2 changes and Sha'Carri has a nice lead beginning the anchor leg. Shericka Jackson chasing hard but comes just short. CIV doesn't mess things up like in Budapest and they get awesome bronze. GBR 4th. POL nicely 6th with great anchor leg by Ewa Swoboda.

245. ATHLETICS - W Shot Put

1. Chase Ealey USA

2. Sarah Mitton CAN

3. Auriol Dongmo POR

Ealey winning quite comfortably.

246. ATHLETICS - M 4x100m Relay

1. Unites States

2. Jamaica

3. Japan

Great run by Japanese sprinters who deny Italians, Jacobs messed things a bit this time and ITA only 4th.

247. ATHLETICS - W 400m

1. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone USA

2. Marileidy Paulino DOM

3. Natalia Kaczmarek POL

Great competition between McLaughlin and Paulino. Wonderful medal for POL here, absolutely amazing. Natalia with new NR - 49.21 (previous NR: 49.28 set by Irena Szewińska when she won gold in Montreal 1976). Great traditional finish by Natalia made this bronze possible. This is my "Rebeca Andrade Tokyo-Like Moment" @thiago_simoes. I cherish Polish ind running medals so much, they are so rare... Shaunae Miller-Uibo BAH back in competition but not in such a good form, and this is the main factor that leads 3rd place possible for Poland. If she was running under 49secs and McLaughlin is there, Natalia had no chances. Anyway, 4. Miller-Uibo BAH 5. Williams BAR 6. Klaver NED 7. Adeleke IRL 8. Bolingo BEL. Only one US athlete in the final but she gets gold for Team US.

248. ATHLETICS - M Triple Jump

1. Andy Diaz Hernandez ITA

2. Hugues Fabrice Zango BUR

3. Jaydon Hibbert JAM

Havana likes this one...

249. ATHLETICS - W Heptathlon

1. Nafissatou Thiam BEL

2. Katarina Johnson-Thompson GBR

3. Anna Hall USA

Hall messes things much and this lets Thiam to get 3rd olympic heptathlon gold in a row, coming back from injury. KJT very emotional in the victory lap, you rarely see anything like that.

250. ATHLETICS - W 10,000m

1. Gudaf Tsegay ETH

2. Sifan Hassan NED

3. Grace Loibach Nawowuma KEN

Only first gold for Ethiopia in Paris. What took them so long? I have to check ETH chances again...

251. ATHLETICS - M 400m Hurdles

1. Rai Benjamin USA

2. Karsten Warholm NOR

3. Alison Dos Santos BRA

Ha! Benjamin denies Tokyo olympic champ on the last 20m. We've seen Warholm running much faster before but this time he managed to clear all the hurdles according to the rules heh... McMaster 4th for IVB. So no olympic medal for them.

252. BEACH VOLLEYBALL - W Tournament (but it could be M - the schedule is not clear here)

1. Ana Patricia Ramos, Eduarda "Duda" Santos Lisboa BRA

2. Sara Hughes, Kelly Cheng USA

3. Tina Graudina, Anastasija Samoilova LAT

Tina - Anastasija get a nice bronze but earlier they put on a furious SF battle against Hughes/Cheng losing 1-2 like in 2023 WCH but only 16-18 in 3rd set. Great BRA - USA final in a wonderful scenery in the evening close to the Eiffel Tower. Beach volleyball gets to be one of the most popular sport in Paris olympics. Deserved that for sure.

253. BOXING - W 50kg

1. Buse Cakiroglu TUR

2. Wu Yu CHN

3. Ingrit Valencia COL

3. Wassila Lkhadiri FRA

I need to check COL medal again though...

254. BOXING - W 66kg

1. Busenaz Surmeneli TUR

2. Yang Liu CHN

3. Charlie Cavanaugh CAN

3. Ivanusa Moreira Gomes CPV

Turks go mad - 2 wins one by one!!! Ivanusa gets her bronze but i need to check this event once again after Day 16 for sure. Anyway, Ivanusa - cool name.

255. BOXING - M 71kg

1. Sewon Okazawa JPN

2. Vahid Abasov SRB

3. Marco Verde MEX

3. Aslanbek Shymbergenov KAZ

256. BOXING - M 92kg

1. Julio Cesar La Cruz CUB

2. Aziz Abbes Mouhidiine ITA

3. Davlat Boltaev TJK

3. Jack Marley IRL

CUB vs ITA - what an amazing bout! Just awesome. Oh, we were waiting for sth like that for so long. Boxing is back, many say. This final will be still talked about when boxing finals will get started at Warsaw 2044 olympics...

257. BREAKING - W Ind.

1. India Sardjoe aka India NED

2. Dominika Banevic aka Nicka LTU

3. Liu Qingyi aka 671 CHN

LTU would prefer to get a basketball medal but if it is denied, they celebrate what is possible. POL would love to celebrate M high jump medal but if it is denied... Or wait, Norbert Kobielski made it to the Saturday final, let's see what he can do...

258. CANOE SPRINT - M K2 500m

1. Portugal

2. Hungary

3. Germany

First gold for Portugal in Paris.

259. CANOE SPRINT - W C1 200m

1. Yarsleidis Cirilo CUB

2. Lin Wenjun CHN

3. Nevin Harrison USA

CHN and USA athletes are so focused on each other that they let a third one get gold here. Fans dancing Salsa in the stands.

260. CANOE SPRINT - W K2 500m

1. Denmark

2. New Zealand

3. Poland

Carrington denied another gold by Dannish girls. A nice bronze for Poland here.

261. DIVING - W 3m Springboard

1. Chen Yiwen CHN

2. Chang Yani CHN

3. Maddison Keeney AUS

Canada surprisingly 4th here (Pamela Ware), a new experience for them.

262. FOOTBALL - M Tournament

1. France

2. Spain

3. Brazil

FRA gets gold after 92nd minute goal. This is one of the most cherished French gold medals in Paris.

263. HOCKEY - W Tournament

1. Netherlands

2. Australia

3. Argentina

Final is good but bronze medal game even better. ARG win over GER after furious fight.

264. RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS - W Ind. All-Around

1. Darja Varfolomeev GER
2. Sofia Raffaelli ITA

3. Daria Atamanov ISR

First non-judo medal for Israel in Paris. Seems like they are good not in the combat sports only, you know... I have a feeling I need to check back my W windsurfer predictions though.

265. SPORT CLIMBING - M Boulder/Lead

1. Jakob Schubert AUT

2. Tomoa Narasaki JPN

3. Jesse Grupper USA

First gold for Austria here.

1. China

2. Japan

3. Korea Rep.

TPE 4th after very surprisingly beating GER in QF.

3. Julyana Al-Sadeq JOR

3. Sarah Chaari BEL

First ever JOR woman with an olympic medal.

270. TRACK CYCLING - M Sprint

1. Harrie Levreysen NED

2. Nicholas Paul TTO

3. Jair Tjon En Fa SUR

This is only 3nd olympic medal for SUR, after 2 medals for Nesty in Seoul.

271. TRACK CYCLING - W Madison

1. France

2. Great Britain

3. Italy

Poland sadly 4th here. Missing this bronze by an inch... FRA wins a very important gold here in this battle vs Team GB for a 3rd place in medal tally.

    • Well, I see that the national competition between mixed doubles and also men increased. Also actually amongst women, too. Before it was mostly Kubeskova team that participated in some international events. This year, Synackova team did really well in the pre-qualification just the final qualification was not that good. But curling is about details. Generally, I am glad to see that there is really much higher competition than it was 10 years ago. And seeing Chabickovsky a Zelingerova making it to the Olympics in such a young age can be really promising for their career as curling is becoming more professional, as we see Grand Slams and other big tournaments.    As for now, I think that in Milano Team Klima and mixed doubles can make really interesting results. After all, they will finish in top 10 so just qualifying to the Games is already a huge achievement

    • Please do not bring this idea to Sindo
    • Tahli/Dean    Probably just as disappointed as the Australians on here are
    • Gotta feel for  defending world bronze medalists, but couldn't make it to the Olympics
    • with a steal of 3 in the 8th end,  can't make the last shot to stay alive.
    • Oh yea.  Seemed like they were starting to get some less than elite pitchers, but the commits they've had in the last 12 hours have been stellar.  Now the staff feels like an embarrassment of riches.  They have 3 elite starters and a bunch of guys that can eat innings.  Thrilled what Mark DeRosa has been able to put together.
    • It looks like you guys will be juuuuust fine.   Tarik Skubal, Logan Webb, Joe Ryan and Nolan McLean all committed within the last couple of days.
    • Yay for no disqualifications! Thanks @OlympicIRL for all the work! Getting close.
