Ukraine did it on shootouts ! They still have to beat Estonia in regulation to advance to finals. Never thought they had a chance after the 1st period.

Even a OT/PSO win is enough

It was a very nervous. But Poland may still have chances. If belarus will be scratched from the next round, IIHF will need (at least) one more team to fill the group.

Poland got 1 point today, so you have the best chance to become the best second placed team among all the groups right now.

Congrats for win.

I hate when not everything depends from us, but from other athletes/teams or like in this case, on IIHF and IOC decisions...

We are little bit shocked. Poland is a very strong opponent in hockey for us - our last win was in 2013.

But I hope both our teams will proceed to the next round due to the disqualifications of belarus (and russia).

Thank you. Your team totally outplayed us in the 1st period. But penalties - is always a kind of lottery.

Hope you will win against Corea and we will have one more game in the next round.

Ukraine? More like Upsaine/Sensaine at this point, this week we produced too many fantastic comebacks/upsets/sensations, I am really glad for the guys, they need this win so much :cheer:

We did beat South Korea 6-0 few days ago, I know it was friendly match, but I can't see that we can loss against them. I'm hoping that our team will take lesson from this match and will play much better at Worlds in May. Main goal should be to stay in elite, everything else will be huge success.

Ukraine- Poland was the best game of the first two rounds... Ukraine still has to beat Estonia. If they lose Poland or even South Korea could advance.

For me i was torn on this game.  I am a American but my dad was  from Poland and my mom from Ukraine

The most beautiful goal of this Olympics cycle so far was scored by :ROU Huba-Ferenc Bors after an assist from Szilard Rokaly who literally himself swept with the complete Serbian line :hockey:

so I expected Romania vs China would be a stinker of a game, but China is on the board first.  Disappointed that I can't find a stream for it.

    • The fact that he threw only 3 times over 70m tells you everything you need to know about Ramona. It's pure wind doping and you know it. It doesn't matter who competes there or not, the rules should be stricter when it comes to outside sources like the wind. If say 100m sprinters had such help they would run close to 9s. Those records wouldn't stand, but somehow they're still allowed in field events. If these records had any legitimacy the athletes would be throwing close to that mark regularly, yet they do not. That's my problem, I have no problems with athletes who go there to compete.
    • Such a cute venue. Really glad they found a use for it at these games.

    • Spring Nationals, Day #2   sleepy and somehow disappointing day in Riccione...until the last individual race of the day, when the unthinkable happened: the next big thing in Italian swimming revealed herself well earlier than expected    Alessandra Mao, in fact, despite being only 14 (not even sure she already turned 14, actually), won the National title over the women's 200m freestyle in 1.58.86    given that she basically doesn't have a decent start nor turns and she's not doing any power training in the gym yet, I hope (and think) she has room to become a world star in the next few years   Today's other champions:   women's 50m back: Sara Curtis, 27.90   men's 50m fly: Lorenzo Gargani, 23.32   women's 100m fly: Costanza Cocconcelli, 58.04   men's 100m breastroke: Nicolò Martinenghi, 59.16 (world champ qualifying time...good to see the Olympic champion back on track, despite not in his best shape both mental and physical); in the same race, Ludovico Blu Art Viberti slept big time in the morning heats and was forced to swim in the B Final, which he won in 59.04 (but since he didn't do it in the A final, the time is not accepted as a world qualifier for now)   women's 200m breaststroke: Francesca Fangio, 2.23.67 (only 7/100 of a second outside the world champs qualifying time)   men's 100m back: Christian Bacico, 53.61
