Just speculating here: they wanted to host the road events during the weekend when the roads being closed would cause less disruption. That was the goal in Toronto 2015 as well

We just lost to Trinidad and Tobago in 3x3 basketball.

 

The same team that was 4th in the last world championship few months ago.

 

What a horrible day, thanks God its the Panamerican games and not the Olympics.
