Karate WKF Premier League 2020

Recommended Posts

today has been one of the most successful days for Italy in the last 10 years or so...

Crescenzo, Maresca, cardin and the men's team Kata all reaching the gold medal match...:yikes::bowdown:

plus the youngster Brunori losing only to Cardin in the semifinal of the women's -55kg (therefore reaching the bronze medal match) and Busà leading 2-0 over :IRI Asiabari in the last repechage match (30 secs to go), which means he would also reach the bronze medal match if he wins...

2nd day review

Men's Kata

we knew about :ESP:VEN:TUR, now :ITA Mattia Busato is also qualified which means the end of qualification in this event.

Men's 84kg

:TUR Ugur Aktas guaranteed an Olympic spot today, Ivan Kvesic also made sure he will be 3rd in the final ranking. he can't go up or down, it's not in his hands anymore. ironically it's better for him to lose the final to Aktas ! he needs some help from Aktas and also another Iranian Ganjzadeh at +84kg

Men's +84kg

3 athletes left for 2 quotas, Ganjzadeh, Horne and Arkania. none of them made it to the final and only Arkania will be in bronze medal match. Ganjzadeh will have something like 1500pts advantage over both Horne and Arkania which means he will have a good chance to finish 1st, still that won't be enough if Poursheib tops 84kg. Arkania is also closing the gap with Horne, in case Ganjzadeh qualifies, Arkania needs to beat Horne to qualify himself. complicated situation for all 5 athletes involved !

Women's 61kg

it was a big day for Coban and Jumaa the both made it to the final, Merve Coban is very close to qualify now. Haya Jumaa also moved up the ranking, if she wins the gold she will be next to Prekovic. but since there will be 1 more event for the Europeans, Coban and Prekovic are still big favorites for the quotas to join :CHN and :EGY. there is still slim chance for Alipour and two French girls.

Women's 68kg

we knew :AZE is already qualified, Gong Li and Feryal made it to the final only 100 pts separate these 2 girls, so whoever wins the gold tomorrow will be in 2nd place . that final can act like a direct Olympic qualification at the end of the day. there is still chance for Quirici (and also very slim chance for Semeraro)

Women's +68kg

It was a great day for Hamided Abbasali, she is not mathematically qualified yet but I can say it's 95% safe for her, she will qualify if she wins the gold tomorrow. but after her there is a close battle between Berultseva, Ferracuti, Hocaoglu and Chatziliadou. right now Berultseva is leading and she can add more points if she wins the bronze tomorrow but all other girls are European and have one more chance. Ferracuti is in the final and winning the gold will be very important for her. but still less than 400pts separate those 4 girls.

Semeraro is throwing her chances away...hopefully Abbasali tomorrow can stop Ferracuti, otherwise she could even start a comeback that put Semeraro out of contention without she can do anything about it...

and frankly I think Semeraro is the only one of the 2 with a true chance to get a medal in Tokyo...

Incredible loss for Crescenzo at 0.2 seconds from the end, I hope for him this won't cost the qualification. Still 2 tournament to the end, 240 points thrown away, even if I am not sure the European Championships will be played.

    • Officials persons (include Head) of RLF are still in ban. For example, Vaelbe has spoken even more terrible words but, however, CAS obliged to gave them AIN status. And it's the same situation here - FIL must to implement CAS's decision. But it's not clearly FIL's criterias for AIN status and that too strange
    • For Modern Pentathlon, it's interesting that Africa only gets one continental championship spot, considering how well Egypt does in the event.  (But then again, it's max 2 athletes per NOC per gender.)  Presuming that an Egyptian wins the African CCh, I suppose their performance in the other major competitions will allow the second competitor to come through.

In this perseverance lies our shared strength, our mission to millions of young people for whom sports are a guiding point and a shining star. I believe in our country, in our strong-spirited guys. I sincerely love and respect our president, Vladimir Putin. He is the best president in the world. May God grant him strength and good health."   Do they deserve neutral status?
    • I did not think it would happen again but... I created similar post for Paris - 2024 https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/27489-ain-athletes-qualification-for-paris-2024-olympic-games-and-reallocation-of-quotas-post1-updated-1507/#comments  I was not sure if that reallocations would really happen but the reality was even more serious than the expectations. According to this research 43% of the neutral statuses issued by the IFs were fake AIN  - https://razom22.com/neutrality-research/  And the figures are based on the IOC decisions - not on the evaluations by Ukrainian NOC or sport ministry. Right now the situation is absolutely unclear. As usually )) Some notes: 1. Russians will not reject quotas for 2026 as they did for 2024 in judo and wrestling. 2. AINERP may be more loyal to russians due to the new member - Watanabe. His federation issued AIN status to Melnikova who took part in the primaries of the russian ruling party, had phots with Z and e .t.c. 3. I do not expect a lot of reallocations becaues of the total small number of the rus/blr athletes in qualification events right now. 4. BUT, even with these small numbers we see that FIS allowed to compete several incompliant persons.        Short notes from the IOC statement before Paris - 2024:   1. IOC`s decisions to reject quotas are final. 2. IOC`s decisions to approve quotas are not final - new facts may lead to the rejection of invitation. 3. IOC`s decisions cannot be appealed - NOCs were not invited to the Games, so it is a good will to invite individual athletes... or not   russians Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Adeliia PETROSIAN Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC Figure skating Petr GUMENNIK Men's singles Davide Lewton Brain Confirmed by IOC belorussians     Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Viktoriya SAFONOVA Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC
    • I would say they will not be eligible. But it realy abotut the wording every federation has in its papers. World Aquatics changes their policies several times (especially after Mazepin "solved the issues" persoanlly - as witnessed one russian Olympic champion)   Inoirtnat notes on FIS decisions:   FIS points are frozen for ruissns and belorussians - so the situation is not so complicated for a lot of them. The list of the AIN`s is not final as the list from ISU was. It means that persons mau be not only removed from the list but added as well. I expect russians to try some freestyle applications before the stage in China, for example. FIS has not problems with the deny of visa or entris by the host countries. So they kept the possibility to close the doors for the russians for all the countries as ICF did. No sanctions for this, no removing events from the Olympic qualification list, no host changes,   * * * * * Here is the the relevant extract from FIS papers for Aerials tram event. What do you think?
