so unless Russia makes a miracle it will be Egypt - Denmark in the QF. I was hoping for EGY/ARG QF to have at least one non-European team in the semies. (for the 3rd time ever)

now it's kind of mission impossible for Egypt (yeah I know even the great Denmark can have a bad day)

if Argentina (or Qatar) qualifies they will have a better chance against Sweden. (I mean comparing to Egypt's chance vs DEN)

Well, major parts of the Danish team is going through stomach aches at the moment, so who knows...

france is not as strong as it used to be. I'm not sure we'll be in Tokyo

They seem like the main challenger to Denmark so far :mumble:

I heard something about it from the commentator during Egypt/Slovenia match, that some (two if I'm not wrong) of Slovenian players had to leave the stadium in middle of the match (at half time if I'm not wrong) for something like that ! :mumble:

I guess we are getting France if they don't mess up the 2nd half. I doubt Spain will let us avoid France. :d

the winner will get Norway which is not much weaker than France (maybe even stronger) and then most probably Denmark in the SF.

so I guess finishing 2nd in Group 1 isn't that bad. it's somehow better than winning the group :p

btw we didn't pass Slovenia just because of their coach mistake , they made use of our disastrous mistakes at 1st half and every team plays with an empty net during suspensions so we just made use of their mistakes at 2nd half they were clueless at offence yet we could have even finished this game really earlier if we didn't miss all these chances IN front of goalkeeper especially from left wing we missed a lot of easy goals from left wing so i think the better team passed at the end of the day

They suspect that it's the hotel as they're in the same hotel as Croatian, Sweden and Slovenia who all seem to have had some problems (Sweden was without Fredric Pettersson today due to the same)

Our team has been in Cairo all tournament but we've avoided all injuries, covid, stomach-aches, nuclear bombs and the 10 plagues.

    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?

    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
