Great initiative by Bubba Watson, Harold Varner, Wesley Bryan and Jason Day!!! They are raising money to make sure every resident of Detroit has access to the internet, technology and digital literacy training.

More people with internet access = more totallympians (hopefully)

Thorbjorn Olesen is back. His court hearing won't happen until December 2021 so yeah, European Tour couldn't keep him suspended for 2,5 years when it's "innocent until proven guilty" law system around the world :p

we all knew it was coming...

now it's official...the 2020 Ryder Cup has been postponed to 2021 and the 2021 Presidents Cup moves forward to 2022...which means also that most likely the 2022 Ryder Cup in Rome will also move to 2023 and so on for the other biennial tournaments...

this week also the European Tour is restarting after the covid-19 forced break...

the Austrian Open is on stage...and midway through the tournament the great oldie :ESP Miguel Angel Jimenez is leading the field with a 2-stroke advantage over a group of 5 players (:NED Joost Luiten, :ITA Renato Paratore, :GER Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, :SCO Craig Howie and :SCO Marc Warren)...

:SCO Marc Warren won the first European Tour tournament after the covid-19 break, the Austrian Open...

at the end of 4 competition days, he edged out :GER Marcel Schneider by 1 stroke...

third ranked was :NED Wil Besseling, 1 stroke behind Schneider...

legendary :ESP Miguel Angel Jimenez, after leading midway through the championship, slightly faded away in the last couple of days and ended up in 8th place, 5 strokes behind the eventual winner...

next week we're going to have another tournament in Austria, the Euram Bank Open (in a different location, obviously)...

Heartbreak for :NZL Lydia Ko at the LPGA Marathon Classic.  She was up 5 strokes on :USA Danielle Kang after 12 holes, yet Ko loses after 2 bogeys & 1 double bogey in the last 5 holes. Kang had 2 birdies on 14 & 15. What a competition! Kang wins back to back tournaments.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
