I don’t think the spectators in Lausanne understand how to practice “social distancing“ :mumble:

Well, neither do the ones along the route of the Tour De France from what I’ve seen, so it’s par for the course.

I'm not reading posts because of spoilers, but I tried to watch the Lausanne DL and the channel that normally shows DL has nothing. Was it even held, or was it only pole vault in the city somewhere and no other events? Because I do find a Kendricks vs Duplantis video on Youtube which I'm watching now :p

.

It's only Pole Vault. That's the whole meeting.

Sadly no one expected for event to got so late in the evening, Duplantis would probably already today broke Bubka's record, if there would be still daylight.

Cool with swedish win in both womens and mens competition!

Too bad they didn´t think abot the light, the darkness might have stopped a world record yesterday.

About the number of people I am not surprised after seing swiss people post pictures from night clubs last months but it seems many nations are now opening up anything as long as they are protecting their mouth which they in many cases are not good at. I have not supported every part of the swedish strategy but seems that trategy might more consistent at least.

We are off in Brussels.

Women’s Hour Record up first.  They are up on the record at 53.

Smurfs are observing mask discipline.

Hassan wins, utterly ridiculous that the lapped runners did not get out her way.  Send them home on the bus!

Nafi Thiam a no-show in BRU - injury. :(

Kipyegon misses the Women’s 1K WR.

After 20mins Farah is not really imposing himself on the WR.

Duplantis going for 6.15 - not far off first time.

Farah still falling off after 40mins, will need a big last 800m.

Duplantis XXX

Oho Farah moves ahead again.

well up now, but still has to beat Abdi who is getting a free ride.

Well done Mo, got the WR in the end.  Suspect he won’t have it long if the other big names chase it.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
