Looks like a very good meet coming up on Saturday from Trieste.  Lots of big names in action, some for the first time this year.  International events start 17:30 Euro 16:30 UK

Live on YouTube.

it looks that it's not Van Niekerk himself to have covid-19, but one of the members of the small South African team training in Gemona (near Trieste) in this period...

therefore, it's well possible that all the SA athletes announced at the start of today's meet won't be able to participate (even if they're desperately trying to save at least Van niekerk's presence, by isolating him from the rest of the team and making him a second test this morning after the one he sustained last night (no news about the result of that one, yet)...

by the way, today on one of the main Italian newspapers (La Repubblica), they published a beautiful interview with Van Niekerk...

of course it's in Italian, but google translate should do a decent work also for those who don't speak our language, though...

back to today's meet in Trieste, this is the schedule of events (all times CET, in UK -1 hour, in the US East Coast, -6 hours) with the most notable athletes on paper in each event:

17.35: Women's 100m (Heats) - Tatjana Pinto (GER)

18.15: Men's Triple Jump - Pablo Torrijos (ESP)
18.25: Men's Pole Vault - Thiago Braz (BRA)
18.40: Men's Shot Put - Leonardo Fabbri (ITA)

19.45: Women's 400m - Raphaela Lukudo (ITA)

If anyone is interested in Baltic athletics, today the U18 and U20 Baltic championships start.

The rules are pretty simple, two Lithuanians, two Estonians and two Latvians start in every single discipline for both U18 and U20 categories and score points for their team that will be tallied up in the end to see which country wins.

The youtube livestream can be found here: and the official start is 15:00 GTM+3 (in three hours from now)

There will also be real time live results on the sportify app with the password baltic2020

Personally, I never skip this event, but I have to leave at 16:00 :/ I'm definitely watching all of the second day, that will start at 11:00 GTM+3 tomorrow (gonna drop a livestream link too, if anyone is actually interested :p )

Sadly sportify isn't available in Italy :( Any possible alternative livescore? :P

Probably not, I doubt that the Latvian or Estonian federations decide to run their own live results on their athletics page if there's already a deal with Spotify.

Why isn't it available in Italy? :(

    • Good luck then! Keep us updated please!!!   And see you in 2026 olympics!!!
    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
