Makedonas 2,165 Posted July 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2023 We won gold last year at the World U19s in W1X, W2-, and W2X. Of those 5 girls, only one of them is competing this year at the World U23s. Really, really disappointing how these talents go wasted like that in this sport... Makedonas 2,165 Posted July 22, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2023 Only 4 A Finals for us. Pretty disappointing, and we will probably end with just 1-2 medals... A lot of this is the federation's fault. M.Kyridou, Natsioula, Gkogkou, Argyraki, Asvesta all could've won medals (for example we could've had W2- and W4X or something), but we didn't send any of them...also no LW1X when we could've sent Leventelli to easily win a medal. Arabatzi also won bronze at the 2021 WU23 in W2X as an 18 yo and has not competed for the national team since. Nothing but shame time and time again... W2x final didn't happen yet and Lithuania didn't even send a boat in that class. Lithuania won gold in W2- Bearas
Makedonas 2,165 Posted July 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2023 So we ended with gold in LW2X with a world U23 record, and bronze in W1X. This was the worst World U23 Championships for us since 2017. It could have been one of the best ever if we actually sent more than 3 women's crews. LW1X, W2- we could've easily won medals as well as W2X, where we finished 6th with our U19 combination that did okay but were clearly not ready to win a medal at this level.
