Yesterday results:

:DEN VS :BRA 33-21, :DEN team continued their unbeaten record (35 game without losing in WCh since 2017) the game started for :DEN and score reached 10-3 after 15 min, better performance from :BRA team led to closing the gap to 15-12 by half time, the 2nd half had a margin favor for :DEN till minute 40 when the Danish team start scoring 8 consecutive goals without response, 12 minutes until Brazil scored again, during that blackout time :BRA GK Martins did really well but his team mates were not able to break the great wall of Nielsen.

hard luck for :BRA and wish they continue such great performance in next tournaments.

:POR VS :GER 31-30, :POR the most improved and best performer so far  (except :DEN for sure) had a great night yesterday. to get the summary of the game, :POR were playing :GER GK Wolff who made 21 saves in the game !! 21 !!! I believe at least 17-18 of them were one on one. on the other hand both :POR GKs did well saving 12 shots (Marques saved 7 while Capdeville saved 5). the game  started with :POR leading till end of first hal 13-9 .. :GER in second half ..ah ..sorry ..I will say Wolff not :GER  ...Wolff in 2nd half managed to close the gap and even lead by 2 goals, but Portela and Francisco Costa were able to finish the time draw 26-26.

the extra time started with :POR heading again thanks to :Francisco Costa and  Martim Costa .. Knorr and Zerbe managed to draw for the team Wolff ... but 4 seconds before the end Martim Costa scored the golden goal to secure the first ever :POR semifinal spot in a well deserved game with huge frustration from Wolff against his team mates.

in 2019 :POR U21 team finished 4th in WCh ( :EGY finished 3rd in the same tournament) in the same year :POR U 19 team finished 4th too in Wch ( :EGY won that tournament) now :POR in the semi final with amazing performance and mix of mostly young players and few experienced.

Semi Final Games:

30th of Jan

:FRA VS :CRO

31st of Jan

:DEN VS :POR

well, here you have it.

this time is extra especial because this happened at the same night as champion league matches of two main Portuguese football clubs, so was not expecting this cover at all.

Semifinal 2

:DEN VS :POR 40-27, first half was really good from :POR (taking into consideration they are facing the best team in the world).. the game was close but :DEN Managed to win by 4 goals (20-16) .. 2nd half was superb from the :DEN specially the Fantastic Four (Gidsel, Nilsen, Rasmus and Pytlick)

:POR couldn’t beat the concrete defence and keeper and couldn’t stop Gidsel’s right left right  three steps

good tournament for :POR But they were unlucky to face the amazing :DEN Team in the semifinal

3rd position game

:POR VS :FRA

Final:

:DEN VS :CRO

No newspaper main page for handball today of course, but still what this guys did was incredible, to end up at the top 4 at the World Cup! :POR

And another good thing is the visibility for handball in Portugal: besides the headlines in newspaper and tv news, the interest has been so big that the prime minister will be there Sunday in Oslo for the bronze medal match.

:FRA VS :POR 35-34, dramatic win for :FRA with a last second save.. the drama started when Richardson scored a penalty for :FRA giving them the lead with only 20 seconds to go

smart tactic from :POR coach during the timeout allowed the team to create a gap for the right winger Areia who was unlucky but also was facing the smart french GK Bolzinger who open the far angle and blocked it at the end giving :FRA a save deserved Bronze medal

technically the shot from the wing can be saved but I think Areia lost his technique when he didn’t catch the pass correctly then his focus was more on his steps and not to step on the line instead of looking at the goal.. anyway .. :POR deserved great appreciation in this tournament and :FRA as a more experienced team deserved the bronze medal
