Cross-Country Skiing FIS Tour de Ski 2019 - 2020

Tour de Ski has completely lost its lore. Plus the Norwegian dominance doesn't attract new fans whatsoever. Obviously I'm not gonna watch even 5 secs of this crap this season.

I've been critical of mass starts since day one and 10km mass starts is the most stupid idea ever. However it's all down to TV and FIS tries to sell crap that "fans love mass starts". It's complete bullshit.

PS. Long individual races in Tour de Ski make no sense since half of the starters (and sprinters) would withdraw before that stage.

*Sighs*, knowing that he’ll regret the next words to come out of his mouth because of the chaos they’ll bring: “I like the sprints and mass starts.”

You're too young to remember 50 km interval starts so I don't blame you. How can you like something you've never watched? :dunno:

10 km mass start is utter bullshit, period.

Tour de Ski was something great and fun to watch during the first editions, it was something new and fans loved it. I´ll never forget the Lukáš Bauer era, I was excited about this months before it started.

Now it´s just one crap. I definitely lost any interest 2 seasons back and this year with the newest idea of a mass start final climb I am not going to watch it as well (not interested anymore). Wish FIS will remove this farce from the calendar soon.

winter sports are going the very wrong way last years I am affraid

Huh? The final climb is not a pursuit anymore?

Yep, wiki...

That's some thrill gone from the last day.

Also, two sprints. :wall:

(ok, that's not new - used to be one or two last couple of years)

Yeah even for FIS there seems to be absolutely no reason whatsoever to remove the pursuit and put a mass start in there. I mean, what on earth does it gain? It only makes for less excitement in terms of fighting for positions.

Well since it's the cross-country skiing World Cup, I'll watch it no matter which format they use :p

If you are that willing to settle, you shouldn't ever complain about anything. :p

There's a difference between wanting something to be better and just entirely ignoring it. It's part of the World Cup, I want to know how the World Cup unfolds, and just checking results is even less fun.

    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
    • Yeah, it was clear. But i repeat, we need it? I think no.

    • In the past the ISU has now allowed countries without a Federation to compete.
    • yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.
    • It is run by a different federation though
    • from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)
    • World Junior Championships ( Dushanbe)   Day #4 Medallists   women's -78kg Gold:  Brenda Olaya Silver:  Mathilda Sophie Niemeyer Bronze:  Eva Ronja Buddenkotte &  Dandara Camilo   women's +78kg Gold:  Lee Hyeon Ji Silver:  Celia Cancan Bronze:  Chihiro Yamaguchi &  Safa Soliman   men's -100kg Gold:  Mukhammadsodik Sodikov Silver:  Nozomu Miki Bronze:  Azhdar Baghirov &  Fares Mekhoukh   men's +100kg Gold:  Denis Batchaev Silver:  Kanan Nasibov Bronze:  Saba Kardava &  Ibrahim Tataroglu
    • 100 days to go until the first multi-sports games of the 2025
    • 11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)
