:FRA France just killed the :POL Polish dream in women's Foil, as they won the 3rd place match against the Polish girls by a score of 45-41...

:HUN Hungary's 6th place at the end of the day therefore was enough to save their asses and qualify to Tokyo 2020...

Yes, they did. I don't know the reasons.

Russia also lost to Hungary in classification. At the end of the day, the European spot could be gained.

that would be marvelous, but the road is still long, it would still be necessary to make exploits during the last 2 world cups, on the other hand on the side of women with the sword it seems to be more than cooked!

    • @hckošice, even though Tomankova lost, she had a good fight against Costa, I think soon she and Babulfath will be the stars of -48kg.

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
