Heute dann noch vier weitere Quotenplätze für Malaika Mihambo (Weitsprung), Joshua Hartmann (200m) und Joshua Abuaku und Constantin Preis über die 400m Hürden.

DSV und DOSB haben festgelegt, dass Athleten in den Top 4 der Beckenwettbwerbe bei der bevorstehenden WM die Olympiaquali sicher haben. Gleiches gilt dann auch für die WM im Februar 2024. Die restlichen Startplätze werden Ende der Qualifikationsphase Ende April 2024 vergeben.

Insofern sind die bisher erreichten Olympianormen also leider ein Muster ohne Wert, da das Kriterium für die Quali eine TOP4 Platzierung mit Erreichung der Olympianorm ist. Wobei ich mir andererseits auch nicht vorstellen kann, dass man bei der WM eine Top4 Platzierung schafft, ohne dabei die Norm zu knacken.

Diejenigen die bei der WM die Top 4 erreichen werden deutlich mehr Zeit haben sich gezielt auf Olympia vorzubereiten. Märtens und Wellbrock sollten es schaffen, eventuell auch Gose und/oder Matzerath. Miroslaw, Klemet, Köhler und leider auch Elendt dürften keine realistische Chance haben. Was passiert eigentlich, wenn 2 Athleten im gleichen Event (Wellbrock und Märtens über 800/1500 m Freistil) die Top 4 erreichen? Wird dann kein anderer Athlet (Schwarz/Klemet) mehr die Möglichkeit haben sich über diese Strecke zu qualifizieren? Wäre extrem bitter für Klemet/Schwarz, beide haben sich in letzter Zeit stark verbessert und könnten nächstes Jahr besser als Wellbrock/Märtens über die 800/1500 m Freistil sein.

 

Edit: Es könnte theoretisch sogar sein, dass über alle Strecken ab 400 m Freistil beide Startplätze bereits nach der WM vergeben sind. In der Realität dürfte es vor allem an Klemet (400 m Freistil) scheitern, aber trotzdem gefällt mir diese Regelung nicht. Wenn Sven Schwarz nächstes Jahr Weltrekord über 800/1500 m Freistil schwimmen würde, könnten man ihn trotzdem nicht nominieren ...

Wenn auch im Freiwasser beide Startplätze nach der WM vergeben sein sollten, hätte er nicht einmal mehr diese theoretische Ausweichmöglichkeit. Ich hoffe, dass dadurch nicht seine Entwicklung "abgewürgt" wird.

Guter Punkt. Bei den Männern gibt es da echt einige Kandidaten auf den längeren Distanzen.

Gute Frage. Bei der WM 2022 gab es das auch schon als Quali für die WM dieses Jahr. Und da hieß es dann vorher, dass nur der Bessere die Quali schon sicher hätte. Kam am Ende dann zwar eh nicht dazu, aber ich vermute Mal, das wird dann auch dieses Jahr die Regel sein.

      Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. The battle is in the second place between  (16p) and  (13p).  with 8p is almost out.  and  eliminated.   Group B:  won both of the 2 games so is almost secured with 19p.  is second with 14p, with  (1 more game played) and  with 11p.  is eliminated and  practically too (6p)   Group C:  went 2 out of 2 so they are still first with 16p and one game less than the rest. The battle for second place will be between  14p,  11p and  9p.  eliminated and  (with one game less and 4p) probably too.   Group D: Only 3 for 2 places.  first with 19p has the advantage, but coming close is  with 16p. They played each other in the Matchday 11 of 12. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify. Coming behind are  with 10p and  with 9p, which are practically eliminated with  and   Group G:  takes the advantage with 12p and one game less.  and  both have 7p, and coming behind are  5p (but one game less) and  with 5p.   Group H:  with the win against  moved to first place with 13p (and one game less), and Turkey stays in second with 11p.  is coming in third with 8p, while  is eliminated and  have 3p and one game less.   Group I: A triple tie between ,  and  with 10p. Belgium have the advantage because they have the best head to head points and one game less. Austria is second in the H2H difference and Denmark is third but with also one game less.  have 6p and  is eliminated.   The next 3 and last matchdays will define the 10 qualified teams and the 8 that will go to the playoffs. Matchdays will be 24-26 September, 28Sep-1Oct and 5-6 October, 2026.
