same choice here

:PLE Palestine

:WSHSahrawi Arab Democratic Republic

:COMComores

 + maldives :MDV

Palestine is already taken because Malik had it as his first choice, so do you accept it if I write down Comores for you? Nobody has chosen Comores as 1st choice yet :)

.

I've updated the list and I think I didn't miss anything.

A few notes:

- hckosice, do you want Nicaragua as 2nd choice as long as nobody else takes them or will you go full focus on Ecuador? :d

- Malik and bestmen, I did not include SADR in the list. It's nothing personal and nothing political, it's just that they are not a nation competing in Rio :p If they compete in Tokyo 2020, you would of course be completely welcome to support them in this thread :)

- To clarify: countries that have (1st choice) behind them are definitely taken, just like countries that only have a username behind them (like mine or Agger, one choice). Countries which are a 2nd or 3rd choice are still available if you want them as your first choice :)

Wonderful to see so many people participating in this in a matter of hours already

I'm a huge fan of FIJI rugby 7's team. The VINAKA Boys are the best !:FIJ  If Samoa :SAMwill qualify - i'll suport them too !

Would you have a problem if I write Samoa down as your 1st choice? Because Fiji is very likely going to have over 50 athletes so it's almost not eligible anymore :p

However, if you're really clear about specifically wanting Fiji, that shouldn't be a problem :)

I'll take Saint Lucia as my first choice, as I had a chance to visit the beautiful country last year and loved it! :LCA

    • The "Andinian Plan" is a very old conspiracy theory in this land, nothing new under the sun.
    • There was even an interesting fact: Pahlavi, as a youth, studied in Switzerland in the 1930s and demanded that students stand and bow to him when he entered the classroom, because that's what was done in IranThis shows that he was really outside from reality his entire life- raised to believe he was a god. I don't know if he ever went out without his protection in Tehran when he was in power in Iran for a long time.
    • The Shah was considered a servant of the West, and that's probably why people disliked him, because the economic situation in Iran was good at the time. Khomeini wasn't even in Iran at the time, only in Paris, I think. From what I have read, the Shah never had popular support and could have fallen in the 1950s, with only the USA and UK keeping him in power. However, the current regime seems to have more support than he does. The Shah was certainly outside from reality and had been so throughout his life + he also apparently had no charisma - in fact, he relied on other countries all the time - the USSR and the UK overthrew his father during II World War and later the UK and the USA. I once watched a documentary film about Shah Pahlavi- quite interesting. He was already terminally disease anyway; when he was overthrown, he would have died immediately.
    • I think we could realistically be in every boxing final here.   But some idiot got too provocative during the fight and got knocked out.  Well, he's young, so let him take it as experience.
    • of course the regime is stronger than it was 2 months ago, probably with more supporters, it's easy to gather people (some people at least) around the flag when the enemy bombards schools killing hundreds of schoolkids. they are rallying and celebrating on the streets every nights which is really annoying.    the 8 years war with Iraq solidified the regime at the time and I assume this one did the same.   I wasn't alive in 1970s, but I can tell there was Khomeini who was charismatic (I don't know why, he never even tried to look like a nice person, I still can't understand what people saw in him) he managed to gather all groups from left to right under his umbrella. there is no such a thing right now and beside that, this is not a simple dictatorship regime with one head. this regime is almost impossible to fall with force. the only way to beat it is through civil activities and we are far from that right now.
    • Two gold medals for  Agostina Hein with two new (senior) south american records!   8:22:01 in 800 FR and 2:10:82 in 200 IM.   (she did the IM only 10 minutes after racing the 800)
    • You've always opposed this regime, so what do you think? Did the USA attack strengthen the regime, or was there no chance of its fall anyway? Two million people in Tehran alone protested against the Shah in late 1970 years and now these protests have never been so numerous. What are your thoughts on this?
    • last year (I mean in Iranian calendar which finished couple weeks ago) was terrible, both personally (since I had couple of personal losses) and also because of what happened to the country, two wars against bloodthirsty vampires and on top of that the Dey (January) Massacre.    but the country still stands as a whole which wasn't my prediction. I certainly underestimated our resilience. of course there are lots of wounds to be healed (even if the war stops right now), some of them very deep wounds, mostly non-physical wounds. we have to wait for the dust to settle to see how the regime will do domestically moving forward, not really optimistic about that though
    • Overall, I fear that if AFD + FPO were to come to power in GER/AUT, Italy could lose South Tyrol- maybe not now, but in the future- yes. There will certainly be problems in that region and Meloni, unfortunately, is like a child- she's not a politician for difficult times.
    • It's more a double edged sword for me. I'm happy that Turkey's strategy of naturalizing athletes to win medals isn't working, but at the same time Ofili and the Jamaican field athletes did it because they weren't being treated right by their federations. Now they have to go back to the same federations that fucked them over to compete in LA.    I'd much rather this have happened than it gone through, however
