Summer Olympic Games 2036 Bid Process

Recommended Posts

It makes sense. The whole bidding process known from the XX or early XXI century is over. Nobody wants to spend millions of Euro in failed projects anymore. Just award the SOG to whomever actually wants to host it and can afford the usual financial losses.

A "high profile" journalist in Spain is proclaiming that Doha :QAT is already decided as the host of the 2036 olympics

The day Qatar gets to host will be the day the Olympics died, without a doubt.

you can then prepare for Saudi 2040 and Bahrain 2044

I wish Chile luck, but unless the IOC is willing to have smaller venues from what it's use to it will be unlikely (unless Chile wants to pull a Brazil and spend even more money building stadiums no one will use).

Still it doesn't hurt to go for it. If Turkey or Qatar drop out then Chile would be in a great position.

Pakistan will oppose India's bid for hosting 2036 Olympics Games as India denied to participate in Champions Trophy 2025 Cricket which was hosted by Pakistan

The IOC could fall apart over 2028 and the possibilty of countires being banned (Including maybe China), Who knows how that will go.

They oppose everything that we do, but they are irrelevant. Pakistan doesn't understand its actually beneficial for them in terms of contingent, cost and weather familiarity.

If India does get the hosting, sports like Cricket and Kabaddi are likely to be included where Pakistan definitely is a medal contender. Also Asian slot for Men's Hockey shall be more competitive

We know, but at least a real bid after the panamerican games sounds decent

In Chile we still remember how we obtained the 1962 world cup, so the hope it's always there :P

If Coe wins it be in Saudi for sure.

For that to happen, the IOC would first have to get agreement from international sporting federations, national olympic committtees and IOC members themselves to relax the current July/August Olympics hosting dates requirement and allow the Games to be held in the cooler months.

Many can be expected to oppose such a dates change as it be very disruptive to existing competitions.

When and if that such an IOC hosting rule change happens, it would certainly open the door from hot cpuntries like middle east nations such as  Saudi Arabia, Qatar or United Arab Emirates (Dubai) to host the Games say in cooler November-December.

We know that a Games in the oppressve July/August heat in the middle east would be impossible and deadly for athletes, officials and spectators.

So there’s a lot of hoops to jump through first before such a dates change can occur.  With Games in these New Norm days being awarded around 10 years or so ahead of the Games, that means there’s actually not a lot of time to get this through before 2026 comes around, which is the 10 year mark before a 2036 Summer Olympics.
