Huge upset from Canada and opens up the group a bit. The final three games should be victories for us, but unfortunately only getting two points from China makes it unlikely for us to finish top 2.

Assuming 3-0 and 3-1 victories for Canada we will finish with 14 points. This essentially means Serbia must win their final three matches 3-0 or 3-1 while the team between :CHN:NED:DOM which wins both matches must only win 3-2 (Dominican Republic could have a single 3-1/3-0 victory) and then we need to hope we win the set ratio tiebreaker.

In the VNL the Dutch team lost 3-2 to Dominican Republic. They appear to have gotten better since, but that did not lead to victory against Canada. In the EurCh the Dutch team led Serbia by multiple points around the 16 points mark in 3 of the 4 sets, but managed to still lose 2 of them, for a 3-1 loss.

Just did the set ratio math. Canada needs to win all three matches 3-0 to have a chance to beat China or the Netherlands (and they need to lose to Serbia 0-3 while winning 3-2 in their other two matches). Things are a bit more open if the Dominican Republic finishes with a 5-2 record.

For instance, Although Canada defeated NL, NL scored a few more points. Same today with China.

True, and it’s still possible for China, NL and Dominican Republic all ending at 4-3, if they exchange the wins, and all lose to Serbia.

But Canada is not at 5-2 yet either. They can’t underestimate especially the Checs, who defeated DR.

Wait, so I did some calculations of my own. If Canada wins all three remaining matches, Serbia win against Dominican Republic/Netherlands/China, and China/Netherlands/Dominican Republic all win one match against each other than we would qualify for Paris? If I’m not mistaken.

Czech Republic played well, but with Dominican Republic nothing is unexpected. Very inconsistent, some days they can beat top teams, some days they lose to lower ranked teams.
