Boycotting games because of an ongoing political event is just dumb (unless the organizers are responsible for the situation). Just look at what the Hungarian athletes did a couple of weeks after the Hungarian revolution in 1956. They went to the Olympics and won 9 gold medals. And they beat the Soviet Union in water polo, in one of the most historical matches of the sport ever. They proved that their community can't be beaten by oppression. That's far more powerful than delaying a competition.

There was different context there of course. Hungary needed to prove it’s strength internationally. The players wanted to make a statement against the Iron Curtain and against the Soviet Union. The one way to do that was to win at the Olympic Games. “Blood in the Water” was their victory because it humiliated the Russians, and that was the best they could do.

Many Americans see the NBA as a form of entertainment. In fact, much of the criticism for players trying to speak out has landed along the lines of “shut up and dribble.” They’ve chooses to do the opposite to make a statement. They’ve chosen to stop dribbling and speak up. They are done entertaining a country that has neglected their communities.

Well, if black Americans only see NBA as entertainment, not as something they can be proud of being the best at, no matter the circumstances, than your sport is just as broken as your country is.

I certainly can’t speak for African Americans, but I was merely trying to illustrate a possible difference in logic.

NBA players definitely take pride in what they do. I was just saying that professional sports are a form of entertainment.

If the nba boycott is targeted against China, the democrats will wave their rainbow flags, the republicans will say amen and the totallympics family will totally approve.

But anyway boycotts that will tarnish america's image is bad, in such cases mixing sports and politics is wrong.

There are probably only 5% or less of Totallympics users that approve boycotting sporting events for political reasons. After all, we know better than the average person the stains left in the history of sports, because of such acts.

Also Americas image has been tarnished for years now, very few things that happen there seem normal.

LA teams really living up to the California standard.

LeBron's legacy is still on the line. He didn't come to Lakers to have seasons cancelled over political reasons. If there's one player furious over games being postponed, it's LeBron for sure.

    • Not to the public until end of Wednesday, entry deadline is under 5 hours from now. Gonna see if I can persuade a couple more to join, like our Uruguayan friend who said he would be able to join due to time but now might be able to with the short turn around.

    • What can you expect from a simple woman from Magadan? As long as she was just running around and not talking, it was okay, but since she became an head of the federation in Rus and started talking this nonsense, it turned out that she was empty-headed. On top of that, she's fat as a pig. Disgusting person inside and out.
    • Rather negative     Both towards Vollering and towards the coach, who has been making a mess of this for years now (like Tokyo). Vollering literally said "it was not good for me that Markus and Vos were still in the front towards the end"     One of the most well-known journalists (albeit a bit of a drama queen, but in this case, he's right): "Absurdly bad race by Vollering. Unbelievable."   An entire analysis titled "Vollering only thought of herself and threw away and almost certain Dutch medal": https://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/demi-vollering-dacht-alleen-aan-zichzelf-en-verspeelt-vrijwel-zekere-wk-medaille-voor-nederland/   Vollering: "They were all riding just to make me lose"   https://www.gelderlander.nl/video/productie/vollering-mij-laten-verliezen-wk-zurich-772648?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F   The 100th time Vollering shows she should simply not be in a team like this. It is always trouble, every single time. We need a team with like 6 Marianne Vos clones, she has the experience, she can read a race like absolutely nobody else in the world can and she plays her role, whether that's the team captain or working for someone else, without complaining and to the fullest extent.   Vollering is the exact opposite of Vos. Vollering rides for Team Vollering, which consists of Demi Vollering. No matter what.
    • What did Dutch press make out of it? It was one of the worst "teamworks" I have ever seen in cycling.
    • There is a ton of evidence, even if you don't believe the Bible is real,  that israel is our ancestral land.  And we simply took what's ours.  And in fact there was never anyone named Palestinians there.   Simply a name given to the region by the Roman's.  But the actual people is just a collective of individuals from different Arab countries where they were kicked out from.  And we are expected to cater to them.   There are plenty of other countries that should take them.   Iran, qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Algeria,  libiya, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco to name a few.
    • Completely lost track of when the other final, but I just finished watching the pre-recorded version of it.   Team “Magic Mike” McEwen defeated Team Gushue 8-3 to win his third title (and in a row) of the season.
