I see JTB is on the start list tomorrow and he is going for the Phelps-esq run to win everything :d

And then we'll get the 'Most gold medals at a single world championships ever!' hype and such :p

Right, just forgetting that more and more events are being added all the time and so winning more medals is 'easier', but alright :p

but in this case the hype is justified by the "he's going to win ALL the events in a championship" factor...;)

That would be a significantly hype-worthy thing, yes :p

Always hard to really compare athletes from different types and with different opposition of course, but stats are stats and it might make for a nice little fun fact :d

Feels surreal that the championship is halfway over and I didn't see a single race :(

At least the Lithuanians were nice enough to not surprise me with any significant results.

With the way that the European Championships went and the fact that we only have two relays to go here at Oberhof, the funding's gonna be very rough next year

In fairness, it would be rather newsworthy if someone won every single event in their gender at any world championship. It’s one thing to be the best on a single day, other thing entirely to be the outright best on multiple days, across multiple distances, and different weather conditions.

They could at least (legally) get some high antioxidant wild blueberries if this was in Kontiolahti :p

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
