Biathlon 2019 - 2020 Discussion Thread

There is speculation that Loginov will retire.  He denied that.  By the way, every time I see his name, I think of the Hunt for Red October.  We meet the cook early in the movie, his name was Loginov.

Para world championships canceled in Ostersund due to Covid 19.

Which was a real shame since it was the first time they were a stand alone championships. I love watching the Blind Biathlon races, that laser system they use is awesome! I still think the sitting athletes should have to ski with the rifle though.

Paulina Fialková shared her Basic Training methodes during home quarantine, at the end of the video :p

Basic but useful stuff, if I got a euro for every time I've seen a certain Brazilian Totallympian work up a good sweat with that, I'd be filthy rich now :d

a few days ago, Dorothea Wierer signed a new sponsorship agreement with Huawei...

so, even if she keeps saying that she will decide if she's going to retire or not only in late Spring before the new season's training camp starts, I guess this is a good proof that she's going to continue her career at least until Beijing 2022 (always if this fuckin' coronavirus stagnation is over and she's still fully healthy by that time, of course)...

Good that Chinese-Italian relations are going to be close, they have brought so many benefits lately. :thankyou:

Yeah, I noticed the Huawei hashtag on her IG account at the end of February so it's obvious with this and Red Bull sponsorship she's not gonna retire anytime soon :p

    • At the beginning, she was considering a helicopter transfer within that day as 3 companies offered her that option. But later, she did not give a clear answer but said that she will compete PGS. Some information still seem to be a bit unclear, but some information does not want to released to public. I am not so sure. But what actually happens, we have to wait for that certain day
    • Yes, they also wrote about It months ago on the olympics website: https://www.olympics.com/en/news/ester-ledecka-chooses-snowboard-over-alpine-downhill-milano-cortina-2026
    • Not really. Maybe you heard it wrong. She decided to give up downhill and will focus on snowboarding parallel Giant slalom. After that, she should participate in Super G and Team Combined.    Btw, maybe, but really maybe, she may take part in one downhill training which is a condition in order to participate in downhill race. Why am saying that is the fact that if the downhill will be postponed to another day due to weather conditions, she would go for the downhill race as well.
    • Actually it was announced some time ago she will do the Snowboarding PGS on Day 2 and then the Alpine Super-G on Day 6 (+ still in discussion process the start in the Alpine Combined Teams on Day 4)
