Biathlon 2019 - 2020 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Two interesting notes.

1.  2020 Summer Biathlon championships are headed to Germany.

2.  Biathlon Canada is turning to meet and greets for fundraisers to lessen the gap due to a funding shortfall.

Totally missed this until I saw the start list for today's women's sprint in Sjusjoen, but Lotte Lie has changed her allegiance to....Belgium :yikes:

https://s-n.no/lotte-lie-skal-ga-for-belgia/

Apparently her mother is Belgian, so it's a relatively easy (and logical) step.

the Italian girls look already in good shape...:cheer:

Lisa Vittozzi won today's Sprint race with some margin over the surprising Swede Ingela Andersson...and Dorothea Wierer came 3rd...

Vytautas Strolia 36th in the Norwegian championship. Hard to say if it's a promising result, 32nd course time among some really good athletes and also beat Guiggonat, Windisch, Hofer and Moravec in the standings, so perhaps he won't be a pushover in Ostersund.

Our junior Linas Banys in 61st looks in a much better shape than last year, especially since he demolished Karol from the A team whom finished 84th.

Other than that, Fomin finished 89th whilst Romanov, Jakeliūnas and Mačkinė ended in 126th, 127th and 129th, watch out IBU cup, we're coming and we're ready.

Not too eager to discuss the girls when Leščinskaitė manages to be +3.35.4 behind Vittozzi with a 0+1 shooting score.

Judging by the decorations on her rifle, Marketa Davidova :CZE is seemingly sponsored by My Little Pony this year.  :raspberry:

That's not new though :p

Or just aren't peaking yet :p Windisch arrived at shooting 1 with a time JTB had when he left the shooting range :d

Fantastic final lap by Johannes Kühn though, he destroyed both Fourcade and JTB on it, turning a significant disadvantage after shooting 2 into a win

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
