At least in diving, silver and bronze are still up for grabs and sometimes there are upsets of even the Chinese.  The same countries win all the medals in synchronized swimming at every competition for over a decade now.  It's not a good look.

Yeah, in diving China potentially sweeping the medals is still low. They did it in 2011 (before mixed events), the only other time it happened was in 1982 and that was from the United States and there were only four events.

with the (relatively new) FIL trend of inventing new farcical events, soon also Luge will be in the mix...

 

and cross-country skiing was also very close last Winter...
