Well they made mega bucks on it here in the US. Disney only cares about money, and they made a lot, so they’ll be happy.

I’ve been watching “This Is Football” on amazon prime. I have mixed feelings about the series so far. It’s not super interesting, but there some very nice moments here and there.

Alright, so just finished binge watching the new Amazon series “Carnival Row”. I have no clue where to begin. My best explanation is this. If you’re looking for a show with the politics of Game Of Thrones, that’s also a Victorian and Imperial period piece, that’s also in a fantasy world with strange backstories and creatures like Game of Thrones/Harry Potter/Lord of Rings, where the plot is much like a Sherlock Holmes movie, and where the set looks like Sweenie Todd; then this is the show for you. Oh, did I also mention the show provides implied commentary on Racism, Sexism, Xenophobia, Discrimination, Hate Crime, Religious Extremism, Terrorism, Facism, Rule By Divine Right, Power Politics, and the “elite”. This show blew my mind. It’s so difficult to completely wrap your head around because of all the different stories and themes, but damn this is what we all wanted Game Of Thrones to be like. I mean there’s so, so, so much to talk about. I could probably spend months writing political, artistic, and critical commentary about the show. It’s still a bit early to decide how it will be received by everyone else, but damn. I highly recommend adding this to watchlist of shows. This 1st season (a 2nd seasons already been confirmed) is only 8 episodes and has a total run length of somehwhere around 7-7 1/2 hours. The cases great. The set design is great. The costuming is so good. The plot (which is most important to me as a writer and communications student) is pretty damn good. The political commentary is stirring (it works almost universally) and thought provoking. It can’t say enough good things about this show.

I’m a huge fan of satire and I use it quite often. However, I know that even in satire lines can be crossed. I’m excited to see this movie, but I really hope the satire is more obvious than normal so people don’t get a picture of Nazis as good guys. All that said, it looks freaking hilarious.

    • Have mercy, I can't last 18 days without sleep.  
    • This might be unpopular but it would allow way more sports and quotas and cities to host at a lower cost. 
    • I think Julia Tannheimer will continue to perform so well on the flatter courses in Ruhpolding and Antholz, which will suit her technique. Oberhof will be more exciting, the courses are very demanding, but quite comparable to the World Championships in Lenzerheide. That's why I'm really looking forward to Oberhof this season. Anyone who can cope well with the courses in Oberhof should also be able to run at the front at the World Championships.

    • Thanks for your predictions, they are very interesting.   But here it will be a different format. Combined events - pairs of athletes, one male/female will perform in downhill and other will perform in slalom. E.g. Team SUI 1 Odermatt plus Meillard.
    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.
    • Medal Table (Change from 2022)    - 20 (+4)  - 13 (+1)  - 13 (+5)  - 9 (+7)  - 9 (=)  - 7 (+2)  - 7 (=)  - 6 (-2)  - 6 (-1)  - 5 (+1)  - 5 (+4)  - 4 (+1)  - 4 (-5)  - 3 (+2)  - 2 (=)  - 1 (=)  - 1 (+1)      -5,  -2,  -2,  -2, , -1, , -1, , -1 fail to male the list   On 1st glance 1 feel I have underestimated Canada, Sweden and Finland, and overestimated GB (obviously) and Netherlands.    If the Russians aren't competing then the Norwegians will have a field day in cross country skiing, but it is too early to tell.   World cups and championships aren't always the best measure for some sports but it's the best I can find.      As an overall trend I feel this will be a strong games for the European nations (home advantage) but the Asian nations might struggle, not necessarily at the extent I predicted here but I don't think their results will be as good as Beijing.
