We have the inaugural World Road Running* Championships from Riga  this weekend.  3 distances involved:

 

1. 5000 metres (whatever those are)
2. The Proper  Mile
3. Half Marathon.

Wow, the proper sub 2 hour barrier is now thoroughly on!  
 

Kiptum looks like he could try again next week.

Btw, Hassan won the Chicago marathon in the 2nd time ever: 2:13.38, shaving almost two minutes from Paula Radcliffe’s mark of 2:15:25 which stood untouched as the world record from 2003 and 2019.

 

Hassan is now the current European Record holder on the 1.500m, 1 mile, 3.000m, 5.000m (track and road), 10.000m, half marathon, and the marathon.

Her range is incredible: from 1:56 over 800 meters to 2 hours 13 minutes in the marathon.

Good news for  is that Sonia O’Sullivan is holding back the clean sweep with the prestigious 2000m!

Yeah, insane range. However, Hassan isn't one of the finalists for European athlete of the year. The finalists are:

 

• Women:  Bol,  Mahuchikh,  Perez
• Men:  Duplantis,  Ingebritsen,  Tentoglou
• Women's Rising Star:  Adeleke,  Caune,  Topic
• Men's Rising Star:  Furlani,  Ingvaldsen,  Laros

The fact that Thiam has never become European athlete of the year is quite surprising to me.
