Not the worst idea - hugely increases potential hosting opportunitis - lots of places in the southern hemisphere don't need a roof, probably moving towards a standardisation of the track dimensions, more focus on the camber, the bank turns, the short straights as a separate discipline to the 'long track'. Also allows 'short track' to experiment with new events ('weight-for-height, 'indoor' hammer, kilo, 200 m 'pursuit'-style starts, 2000m steeple etc...

Worst part of the idea is then that many events will be exactly the same. What will be the differensen between long course or short course high jump, long jump, shot put etc?
only affects the running, the long throws non-existence and the multipla events. I mean they are still so similar that the inspiration wr are considered as overall WR now. And without even have the weather as a difference...

Not on Viaplay in :GBR though, our one is a pile of shite. Only showing 2 games of the Summer Bash, which means I have to pay £4.95 to watch my team play on a stream that doesn't even work most of the time instead of on a channel I pay £15 a month for where all 7 Bash games should be on.

Guess we’ll have to wait a while to sort out the Jacobs v. Kerley drama

Ah, for some reason it weren't showing on the general Viaplay schedule. Wish that was the case for the Widnes vs Swinton game too.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
