Van der Poel wasting his strongest riders early. Bad day for Søren Kragh :(

VDP/Alpecin missed the break in the peloton

The only one of the main favourites to really miss out, Van Aert was just in time to make the jump. The 'shadow favourites' like SK Andersen can be counted out now because of this extra work, and some "maybe maybe maybe outsiders" like Grmay, Sagan and I think Vanmarcke are in that group as well.

Though to be fair Søren has been a bit ill during the week. He was pretty much all-out help for VDP today.

I'm sure that was supposed to be with a bit less than 230km to go though :p

But yeah, that's probably a lot more on VDP than on SKA. Stybar is in the second group as well btw, for what that's still worth nowadays :p

Filip Maciejuk has been taken out of the race, rightfully so of course, after causing a massive crash that took out Tim Wellens and a bunch of others.

I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
