How did we go from back-to-back golds (and 3 of the top 4 in 2006) to this?

I feel like there's got to be something else. We had athletes from Malaysia and Taiwan who were ranked higher than the highest ranked Canadian in the world rankings last year. There were also athletes from Ukraine and Denmark ranked in the top 10.

Maybe not qualifying a male these Olympics will serve as a wakeup call.

A toxic management system of abuse just like rugby in 2021. But look how quickly rugby turned it around for Paris. So let’s hope Skelton and bobsleigh can do the same thing. Looks like they have really changed though and announced ten men and 6 women for the North American stops from the RBC training program with their goal of becoming a world leader again. So things are definitely looking up :)

The loss of the track in Calgary would be my guess.

That's a big part of it. Most of the development program was run thru there, it was well established and easily accessed by a large population.

Just in general, our sliding program results softened across the board those from the Vancouver 2010 pipeline started retiring. Money and other resources dried up, in-fighting, and organizational issues took root, and we lost half our tracks.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
