More than 5 times more interest to be honest. The BBC has the rights to both, and gives the whole shebang to it (not just when it's in the UK, Gold Coast 2018 got full coverage). Here they are only doing Athletics, and not acknowledging the games (exclusively calling it the "European Team Championships")

Of course they won't. After all, with all due respect, the UK won't be winning 200 medals here, even if the UK athletes were taking the EG seriously, which they aren't.

If these are the results we would get from all aspects, then better have no EG at all. There is no point in wasting time for something that is valued by almost no one.

Auntie normally shows any old nonsense it gets its hands on though, it has the rights to this and is actively ignoring it. It even shows like school football and stuff like that

Fossali :ITA with another fall. He needs to shore up his nerves before Olympic qualification.

Do the European Games suffer from the fact that so far they've been hosted by nations such as Azerbaijan, Belarus and Poland? Meaning eastern ones. Would things be different say if instead we had them in cities like Nice, Oslo or Dublin? Meaning western.

You'd think not, especially as Baku were at a pains to make them a big deal. To be fair those first two games were on BT Sport, who at least provided some streams and World Feed commentary. It doesn't help that IAAF, FINA and FIG seem not to care.

Annoyingly, I think that might be a small part of it. The inability to get all the major sports on the program is a larger issue, as is general promotion.

It being a newer event maybe hurts it a little as well. It doesn’t quite have the prestige of the Pan American Games, Asian Games, or even Commonwealth Games.
